Just wanted to recap a few important details for those of you that attended and to those of you that couldn't make it.

The first 14 days of the Metabolic Balance Program are designed to help the body burn as much fat as it can since it will be in the fat burning mode. If any exercise is added the risk is that we start burning the carbohydrates which can lead to dizziness etc.

The no exercise advice is for the Strict Phase 2 , not for the relaxed phase 2. It’s because it takes an enormous amount of energy to reset the metabolism and rebalance hormones. If exercise is done during the 2 weeks, your energy would be directed towards the exercises and not resetting your metabolism. Your weight reduction would be less.

We want you to start your exercising when you are ready!

Welcome to my Herb Garden. I decided to grow my own herbs this year and loved the idea of just stepping outside my kitchen to get the freshest variety to add to my meals. One of my favourites is basil. I love the fragrance of this herb, its beautiful rich green colour and, of course, a distinct fresh flavour that adds another dimension to every meal.

Eating at least three times a day will keep you full and reduce hunger. This is good for weight loss. Eating fewer than three times a day puts you at risk for overeating and choosing less healthy foods.

Insulin has to be kept in check! As the door opener for letting sugar into the body's cells, insulin also drags a lot of toxins and hazardous substances that have been shown to enhance cell aging, along with those sugars. That the increased prevalence of obesity affects both public and private systems, in a major way, has already been established. But studies also show that obesity hurts the national economy as well. Work absenteeism as a result of back problems clearly attributable to surplus pounds and lack of exercise, to cite just one example, cost employers millions annually.

With all of these low carb and low calorie diets, the body receives large amounts of protein. There are certain organs in our bodies, the brain, for instance, as well as hormone producers and our red blood cells, that are exclusively dependent on glucose. They cannot burn fat. Muscles, however, can burn fat when they don't get enough carbs. The brain can usually only burn carbs. This important point can also be seen in the fact that such organs can take glucose into cells without being dependent on insulin for its transport through the cell membrane. What it means is, if we decide to nourish ourselves hypo-calorically, with fewer calories and carbs, the brain might not get enough glucose from proteins, through a process called gluconeogenesis. The result is that during such crash and speed diets , we lose a great deal of our own personal protein because we aren't getting the carbs needed.
