🤷♀️How do you take that first step,
When you can't even see it?🤷♀️
I was asked this once, by an amazing brilliant person who had it all together.. so I thought.
I was a bit confused, because "you just trust" isn't really a great explanation.
And then I remembered this little gem from my childhood:
When I was a kid we lived on a farm.
I spent a lot of my time in overgrown pasturefields where there were animal holes and dips and ruts everywhere.
So many hazards!!
I was taught though how to place my foot down and "feel" the surface below BEFORE leaning my weight into it.
Saved me from a LOT of sprains and twisted ankles, even if sometimes I did end up sprawled in the grass.
I think that's how we learn to trust.
We get reassurance and information from someplace inside of us,
and we learn to use our own senses to feel if they are solid and true.
So here's the kicker...
The ground in those fields were STILL filled with holes.
What changed was that I was able to run and jump and play safely (mostly safely), because I learned to "listen" to my body.
My feet knew what solid ground felt like when my eyes couldn't see it.
And that's all part of being fully embodied.
Fully connected.
Pretty cool, huh?
