I know there are a lot of fears right now with COVID-19. Especially with the spike in Kelowna and Vernon. You are probably starting to ask yourself is self care really worth it right now? Or is this worth the extra stress?
Let me reassure you it for sure is.
When you care for yourself and take time out for you. This then give you the ability to be more present and show up better for those that depend on you.
For those of you that have not made it into the spa I want to walk you through my protocols for screening patients, cleaning, and sanitizing the treatment room.
1. Pre screening when booking an appointment with the incredible receptionists
2. You’re required to sanitize your hands and put on a mask when you arrive at the spa
3. A two page double sided consent to treat form. Going over all your history and helping you to weigh benefits and risks.
4. In the treatment room you’ll see that all unnecessary items to massage therapy are removed.
5. The treatment table is unmade so you can see how everything is clean, sanitized, and no oil marks are present. Also the pillow used for ankle and knee support is in a rubber case so it can be cleaned and sanitized as well after each use.
6. Sheets and face covers that are used for your massage are fresh and clean. I set up the table while you’re in the treatment room.
7. Once your massage starts, I was my hands when I return to the room. There’s a sink in each of the treatment rooms. The towel I use for drying my hands is changed out after every patient.
8. When your massage is complete I wash my hands before leaving the room. I use the towel on the door handle and leave the room. My used towel is immediately put into a used laundry container.
9. Once you leave I then take the sheets and they go immediately into the used laundry container and brought down to our laundry room to be cleaned.
10. I clean all surfaces of the treatment room with Morning Mist. I use a slightly higher concentration that is recommended. I start cleaning and sanitizing: table, pillow, face cushions, stool and handle, shelf (hand sanitizer, lotion bottle, and oil bottle), chair, basket, hooks behind door, door, counter, sink, tap, clock, treatment room floors, handles, and light switch. This happens after EVERY treatment.
With this routine firmly in place, I have spaced out my bookings to have a 30 minutes in between each patient. I will not cut corners on my cleaning and sanitizing routine. I have decided to keep my bookings spaced out like this indefinitely.
You and your families safety is my top priority. I have outlined all the steps I have been taking and will continue to take to ensure that.
Drop a comment of some concerns you have been having or how you are managing the stresses
Thank you all so much for your continued support through these difficult times!
I look forward to seeing you in my schedule.
With Respect and Gratitude,
