It has been known for decades that fluoride in the public water supply is highly effective in preventing "cavities" as the teeth are rendered more resistant to the acids produced by tooth decay causing bacteria. There is a lot of misinformation out there about fluoride. Ask your Dental Professional.

The prevalence of caries in the primary dentition of children was significantly higher in Calgary, Canada, without fluoridated water, than in Edmonton, where the water is still fluoridated, according to a study published by the journal Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology.
