It’s down to the wire in Colmar

Shanda is currently in first place with just over 285 km done on the run. She is exhausted beyond words but still pushing, step after step, toward the finish of this 10x Iron distance Deca.

Right now it is anyone’s race. Just behind her is Goulwenn Tristan, only a couple laps back at 283 km, and Alina Ranceva is not far off at 273 km. It is unbelievably close after nearly 190 hours on course.

Every lap matters. Every stride counts. The pain is unimaginable and the body is long past empty, this is coming down to pure heart and grit.

What Shanda is doing right now is absolutely incredible. We are watching one of the tightest Deca finishes ever, with some of the strongest athletes on the planet battling it out.

Here’s how it stands right now:

You are doing great Shanda Hill Ultra Athlete ! What an intense race! You can do it!

Another day in Colmar and the heat is relentless

It has now been 58 hours since the race began, and in that time, Shanda has completed a 38 kilometre swim and biked 746.25 kilometres, with no major rest.

The heat wave hanging over Colmar is starting to take a serious toll. Temperatures have climbed into the 30s, and after more than two days of racing, it is becoming punishing. Shanda told us that “the sun is killing everyone,” and it is clear this weather is making an already brutal challenge even more difficult.

Despite the conditions, Shanda is still holding first place among the women, and is currently second overall in the entire race.

Alina Ranceva of Lithuania is chasing hard and keeping the pressure on. Come Warot of France has now moved into the lead, and Flavio Elvedi from Switzerland is beginning to climb the leaderboard as well, gaining momentum in fourth place.

Here are the current standings:

2️⃣ Shanda Hill (Canada) — 746.25 km biked
3️⃣ Alina Ranceva (Lithuania) — 737.5 km biked
4️⃣ Flavio Elvedi (Switzerland) — 711.25 km biked

Shanda has been on course for more than two full days, through heat, fatigue and pressure. And still, she pushes forward.
