We're back! 📚✈️

We would like to thank everyone for their patience while our practitioners took the time to travel to Brighton, England to complete a course in CranioSacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute. Our professor was absolutely brilliant, and we accomplished so much under her guidance. We are full of new information and knowledge and can’t wait to start incorporating our new techniques into our practice.

During this time, we were also fortunate enough to visit and connect with some amazing Osteopaths in Europe.

Our first visit took us to London, England where we met the very skilled and intelligent at Laura Tilson Osteopathy. The amount of knowledge and insight she has is outstanding. Her dedication and commitment towards helping people is exceptional and we thank her for her guidance in growing our profession throughout Newfoundland.

We were also very fortunate to visit the talented Dennis & Daniëlle .abbink at their clinic in Maastricht, Netherlands. Their clinic space was absolutely beautiful and it reflected in these individuals as well. It was awesome to see that Osteopathy is thriving in other countries and we thank them greatly for taking the time to connect with us.

We feel so grateful for an experience like this and to meet the people we did. We are just over the moon. Our brains have been worked, our hearts are happy and our belly's are full.

Now to get back to what we do best, helping you heal!✨✨

Did you know that today is World Osteopathy Day! 🌎💙

We would like to thank our wonderful, dedicated patients for another year of Osteopathy treatments on the Avalon Peninsula. The word is spreading about how beneficial Osteopathy can be in pain relief and management. Even though the profession is unfamiliar to most, it has been used in practice around the world for almost 150 years!

Fun fact, the profession of Osteopathy was founded by Dr Andrew Taylor Still on June 22, 1874.

#3 of my whiteboard anatomy series ✨✨

We're always trying to emphasize the importance of our feet. They are the foundation to our body and without a strong foundation, our body is prone to dysfunction.

The human foot is comprised of 26 bones, 33 joints, 20 + muscles and a complex network of nerve, circulatory and lymphatic systems. We can actually follow the connection from our big toe all the way to our tongue! It is crucial to our functioning that our foot and ankle can articulate properly on top of each other as well as each individual joint in the foot.

Using gentle mobilizations techniques, Manual Osteopathy can help with the following feet-related conditions:
🦶 Plantar fasciitis
🦶 Bunions
🦶 Gout
🦶 Arthritis
🦶 Sprain or strained ankles (or history of)
🦶 Metatarsalgia
🦶 Achilles tendinopathy or Achilles related injuries

We had a blast at this years Santa Clause parade on Saturday!

There was a great turn out with so many spectacular floats. So glad we were able to be apart of it and see the community come together.

Shoutout to Victoria and Salmon Cove volunteer fire department for putting off another parade without a hitch.

We hope everyone got a chance to get out and enjoy the beautiful weekend that the weather gods blessed us with! We know it’s tough getting back into the work week after all that sunshining goodness so here’s a couple tips to get you through the week:
💧Stay hydrated and drink your water
🤸‍♂️Try not to stay sedentary for longer than 30 minutes, move your body!
🛌 Do what you can to get a restful nights sleep
☀️Take advantage of the nice weather while it lasts

In other words.. manual osteopathy is a form of hands-on therapy where our primary goal is to address the source of the problem instead of just treating secondary symptoms to rid your body of the pain or dysfunction.

Our treatment is gentle and non-invasive and doesn't involve any forceful adjustments. Osteopathy is a great alternative to pain management if you have been struggling with the same problems time after time.

GUYS! you HAVE to check out Avalon Osteopathy! They are amazing. I had my first treatment with them today and WOW, did I ever learn a lot about my own body. For anyone who is wondering what Osteopathy is, it is a combination of various manual techniques and therapies that work to find and treat the source of the issue rather than just the symptoms. Their goal is to fix the issue right at its source so that you can get back to living your life pain/symptom free again!

Cranio-sacral therapy... what's that?🤔
Cranio-sacral therapy is a form of gentle therapy that enhances the body's self-healing abilities. In it's essence, cranio-sacral therapy involves gentle manipulation as the practitioners both test for restrictions and "listens" to the quality of the cranio-sacral rhythm.

The cranio-sacral rhythm...what's that?🤔
It is the rhythmic flow of the cerebral spinal fluid, which the body regulates and maintains in order to feed and nurture our delicate nervous system.
During a cranio-sacral treatment, the pressure beneath the practitioners hands are very light and primarily manipulate the head and spinal column.
