Meal Prepping Tips

Starting out, it can be overwhelming and hard to do but here are some tips that really helped me!

🔹Plan ahead, make a grocery list of what you need to buy and what you plan to make. Pick foods you enjoy to eat.

🔹Schedule a time and day when you will prep food for the week.

🔹Make it enjoyable. Listen to music or a podcast while you prep.

🔹Cook a batch of 2 different proteins and carbs that you can easily mix together. Pick easy fats to incorporate in your food like peanut butter, nuts or a sauce.

🔹When choosing snacks, make sure it's easy and fast to prep like Greek yogurt with fruit and nuts.

🔹Eat similar foods everyday. Try not to change your meals too often and having the same foods everyday makes it so much easier. As long as you pick foods you really enjoy, you will not get bored. I'm someone who LOVES variety and flavor and this really helps me.

🔹Hire a coach for help. Having someone there to teach you, talk you through it and keep you accountable really helps. For 1:1 coaching, DM me!

I always feel really uncomfortable posting progress photos on my Instagram but I wanted to show how you can see progress in just 4 weeks by being consistent with your goals.

Everyone's goal is different and mine in particular was to feel better, heal my gut, avoid sugar and work harder at the gym and jiu jitsu.

What did I do to achieve this goal?

1️⃣I followed an animal based diet (only meat) for 1 month.
2️⃣ I hid my holiday chocolates and stopped eating dessert after dinners.
3️⃣ I drank water and used electrolytes to stay hydrated.
4️⃣ I created a new weight training program and aimed for 3 days of lifting.
5️⃣ I grappled in jiujitsu and aimed for less breaks in between rolling.

Would you say I was 100% consistent in all my goals?

Some yes some no. Goal 1 and 2 yes I was 100% consistent because I was very motivated to achieve this goal. I started Jan 1 feeling sluggish, brain fog, bloated, moody, full of cravings and I needed a new start. After removing all the unhealthy foods or foods that didn't sit well with me, I felt great. Cravings gone, more level headed, patient and less inflamed. But the first few days of removing these things made me feel horrible. But that's ok, there is always a little dip where you feel like you're going backwards, but don't stop. Keep going.

Goals 3, 4 & 5 I did my best to be 80% consistent. I didn't always achieve my goal every week but I tried my best. Did I feel guilty some days? Yes. But I kept a positive outlook and understood that some things are out of your control (e.g. being sick).

It may not look like a huge difference in these photos but emotionally and physically I feel way different. I only lost 3.4lbs but my goal was not weight loss. It was healing my gut and setting healthy habits.

The main thing is to not give up on your goals. Find that goal that really resonates with you and motivates you to achieve it. If you start to lose your way, think about why you made this goal in the first place. Just remembering your why may put you back on track.

Being sick has made me reflect on how important being healthy is. We have a tendency when sick to sometimes not make the best decisions such as:

❌ Not eat due to loss of appetite or eat highly processed
meals like fast food.

❌ Push through and lift heavy.

❌ Not take sick days and continue going to work.

❌ Staying up late, not getting enough sleep

Since it's not uncommon to be sick around this time of year, I provided some tips to help encourage a quicker recovery so you can get back to doing the activities you love.

Swipe through for tips that I incorporated these past few days while being sick. 🤧🤒💗

I've been meaning to make a New Year's Post.. 😆 is 7 days later too late?

I've been reflecting a lot on 2023 and even though a lot has happened, I always have this feeling of whether I did enough, accomplished enough, worked hard enough etc.

This year, I want to really attack my goals with more passion, drive and resilience. Sometimes when things are challenging or tough, I want to give up or I just half-ass it. This time, I want to avoid that feeling at the end of 2024 where I ask myself if I did enough and if I really tackled every goal to the best of my ability.

Working with clients as a trainer has really helped me see others push themselves through my challenging programs and it inspires me. It makes me want to do better.

I have a lot of goals in mind, both personal goals and fitness goals, and I can't wait to see what this year brings.

Can't believe its 2023!

I had expectations of crushing new year goals right on January 1st but things didn't go planned.

My last workout was mid December and fast forward to today Jan 7th, I finally had the energy to do upper body (I avoided the legs).

Holidays really set me back on my exercise and eating habits. I ate lots of sugar, socialized with family and friends, stayed up late, didn't exercise. I felt really lazy and decided Jan 1st I would start fresh.

Well.... evening Jan 1st, I felt sick 🤮. Ended up going to the hospital for really bad stomach pain and then the next few days, headaches and low energy. I woke up today feeling better, decided today was the day I was going to push myself and exercise and I'm happy I was able to get through it! 💪💪

I was able to train my client today as well and spent a couple hours recording exercise videos for my next challenge on Jan 9th (link in bio 😉).

I know a lot people are setting new years goals and wanting to be a better version of what they were in 2022. Some of you started your goals Jan 1, some of you didn't. Its never too late to start. Thinking about starting and actually doing it are two different things. If you are thinking of starting a new goal, whether it be a fitness goal or nutrition goal, don't over think it. Just do it. Put those shoes on and hit the gym. Get rid of those cookies and stock your fridge with healthy alternatives.

You can do it. I'm there with you cheering you on.

2017 ➡️ 2022

Alot has happened in these 5 years. 2017 I started getting into fitness and nutrition. I did train Jiu Jitsu for a few years by then but I never really weight trained or cared much about what I ate.

Yes I may have lost some weight and gained muscle but I learned a lot along the way.

I learned about appetite awareness, food quality, the importance of weight training, cardiovascular training, portion sizes/control, energy balance, mood and so many things that contribute to overall health.

Little changes everyday can add up to make a big difference in the future. What helped me back then is saying "Yes, today I will start, no more excuses."

With Xmas and New Year coming up, you don't have to wait to start your new year goals on New Years Day. Let do small changes now so you can feel your best through the xmas holidays and into the New Year!

If you want to start now, I am here to coach you and support you through it.
