Feeling "Off-Kilter"?

This Client's Story Might Surprise You!
Ever felt like something just isn't right, even when logic tells you otherwise? We recently had a client who was convinced they had a leg length discrepancy, so much so they were using an insert in one shoe just to feel balanced!
Here's the kicker: we measured them from greater trochanter to medial malleolus bilaterally, and guess what? Both legs were a perfect 29 inches! That's right, perfectly even Steven!
So, if their legs were the same length, what was causing that "off-kilter" sensation?
The answer was in their pelvis. We performed a thorough assessment, checking alignment standing, seated, prone, and supine. Our osteopathic approach included specific adjustments to the p***s and tailbone, passive and active corrections to the SI joint and sacral nutation, and addressing the ILA (inferior lateral angle), tailbone, and posterior and anterior rotations of the ilium.
The result? Instant balance and relief! This case is a fantastic reminder that sometimes, what we perceive as a problem in one area is actually rooted in another. **Thorough Blood Pressure Assessment Guide: Overcoming Challenges and Mastering Techniques**

Welcome to this guide on how to start and excel in manual blood pressure assessments. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this video is for you.

Starting out, it's normal to feel uncertain about what you're hearing. Just document your observations as best as you can. It took me three years of practice to overcome common user errors, but with persistence, I mastered the technique, or at least know what to do when the automatic is not working, or when you want to hear details for a more advanced assessment.

Now, after four years of consistent practice, I can confidently identify regular and irregular heartbeats, differentiate between various sounds like hand movements on the stethoscope, and distinguish between strong, weak, slow, rapid, and additional beats.

Want to learn more about how to assess blood pressure? The rule of the artery is supreme. As registered massage and osteopathic therapists, it shouldn't come as a surprise that we should be assessing blood pressure frequently. A proper assessment involves three measurements, and possibly a follow-up one after treatment. Are you confident you know what you are listening to and for?

Remember, the diastolic pressure is the top number, representing the amount of pressure in the vessels, and the systolic pressure is the bottom number, indicating the pressure after the heart pumps.
