Today we raise awareness about the effects of predictable and preventable injuries.

Did you know Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are the number one workplace injury in Canada? And up to 90% of physiotherapists experience work-related MSDs during their careers, with 50% experiencing them within the first 5 years of practice.

Let’s come together to raise awareness on preventable injuries and promote safer work environments for all healthcare professionals.

July is Disability Pride Month!

We celebrate people who experience disability, their identities and culture, and their positive contributions to society.

Disability Pride Month aims to change the way people think about disability and promotes all types of disability as a natural part of human diversity. It also highlights the history, achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disabled community, directly challenging ableism and discrimination.

Did you know 27% of Canadians aged 15 and older, or 8.0 million people, have one or more disabilities that impact their daily lives? These individuals deserve to live full, self-determined lives, just like everyone else.

Join us in celebrating Disability Pride Month by sharing your stories, raising awareness, and advocating for inclusivity.

Today’s educational post is on vocal hygiene, put together by one of our amazing SLPs, Haley Wilson!

Here are some tips to maintain healthy vocal hygiene:

- Use good breath support: Breathe from your belly.

- Incorporate regular pauses: It’s better to pause for a breath than to talk to the end of your breath, which can strain your voice.

- Stay hydrated: Sip water throughout the day to keep your vocal folds moist.

- Steam it up: Consider using a steamer or inhaling steam from a hot shower if your voice feels dry.

- Take quiet breaks: Rest your voice, especially when you are sick or sore.

- Be mindful: Limit alcohol and caffeine as they can dry out your vocal folds.

- Avoid unnecessary coughing/throat-clearing: Try sipping water or a gentle “ahem” instead.

A speech-language pathologist (SLP) can help you with your voice. Contact us today to learn more about how our SLPs can support your rehabilitation journey!

04/26/2024

We're at the WorkSafeBC Health Care Professional Conference 2024 in Vancouver today, learning valuable insights into how we can help injured workers get back to their lives and back to work. It's been an inspiring experience, especially after hearing Tyler Turner's incredible story.

Tyler's journey from a traumatic skydiving accident in 2017, which left him without both legs and battling multiple injuries, to becoming Canada's first Paralympic gold medalist in snowboard cross at Beijing 2022, is a testament to the power of resilience and determination. His story reminds us that dramatic change is inevitable, but with the right mindset, support, and tools, we can overcome even the greatest adversities.

Tyler's presentation was a powerful reminder that resilience is not just about enduring hardships—it's about redefining your identity and achieving unimaginable feats. His return to adventure sports, his success in The Amazing Race Canada, and his commitment to sharing his journey with others are nothing short of remarkable.

We're excited to bring back these insights to Neuromotion Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, where we're dedicated to helping our clients overcome challenges and thrive. Let's continue to be inspired, support each other, and work towards a future where everyone can achieve their full potential.

Together, let's work towards a healthier planet and a healthier future for all. Happy Earth Day!

Hello! I’m Anne!

I have been working with Neuromotion since July 2018
What I love about my job are the people - team and clients! So many amazing people!
In my free time, I love to walk, kayak and yes, Pokemon Go!
I like reading a good mystery, maybe creating something with my Cricut.
Fave Food - pizza, but open to any free lunch!
My dream destinations are Portugal, Italy, New Zealand!
My life has been an adventure but a walk up to Manchu Pichu with a Llama is an interesting thought.

At our clinics, we have Kinesiologists and many volunteers or co-op students who are studying Kinesiology, but what is it? Kinesiology is the science of human movement. In Canada, this is usually a 4-year undergraduate degree and upon completion, graduates can practice as a Kinesiologist in BC through the certification from the BC Association of Kinesiologists.
