Today, October 19th is our provincial election day in BC and I'm reminded about the immense amount of privilege we enjoy as Canadians. To be able to vote and have this right protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is truly special. In our family's second home, Haiti, people do not have this same right.

I hope you all had an opportunity to exercise your right to vote and help shape the future of our wonderful home.

This Monday, Sept. 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (NDTR), a federal statutory holiday and day of remembrance for the Indigenous children who never came home from Canadian residential schools, as well as those who survived them.

Today, we wear orange to stand in solidarity with and keep in our thoughts the survivors of residential schools and to acknowledge their stories.
