Between Fear and Dharma: A 6-Week Exploration of the Gita Through Yoga Therapy

Because sometimes, the hardest battles are the ones we fight within.

What if your greatest moments of confusion actually held your clearest wisdom? What does it really mean to live your dharma even when the path isn’t clear?

The Bhagavad Gita begins in the midst of self-inquiry and impossible choices. Set on the battlefield of the Mahabharata, it unfolds as a raw, honest conversation between Arjuna and Krishna about life, loss, and purpose. In this course, we’ll not only explore the Gita itself but also the rich stories of the epic that frame it, bringing ancient wisdom vividly to life.

This journey blends trauma-informed movement, reflection, and discussion to help you experience the Gita as a living guide, not just a text. You don’t need to be spiritual ,just curious and open to exploring your own inner landscape.

Madhu Nagarajan, raised in India and deeply influenced by her grandfather’s teachings, brings her experience in yoga therapy and compassionate storytelling to guide you gently through this journey.

In each session, we’ll begin with group discussion, move into small breakout conversations, and conclude with practices such as movement, pranayama, and meditation to help you integrate the insights deeply.

Tuesdays, 4:00-6:00pm, April 7- May 12
Investment: $300 (early bird $250 if paid before March 25)

We are all about functional movement at Ajna!

In this movement, we focus on the skill of bending forward from the hips, stabilizing the core and reaching the arms to pick something off the ground.

This can be helpful for everything from unloading the dishwasher to picking up that hoodie off the ground.

We practice movements like this every week in class!

We rested deeply this weekend! Our weekend restorative yoga therapy module put the theory into practice.

We learned how many household items can double as props (ziplock of rice for a sandbag, Tupperware for a block, housecoat tie for a yoga strap).

And everyone taught and experienced restorative yoga practices throughout the weekend.

Thanks to everyone for a beautiful weekend of sharing.

Do you have chronic tight shoulders that feel like concrete and no matter how much your stretch, it still hurts!

Those upper trapezius muscles might be tight because the lower traps are not working as they should.

Wake up those lower traps with a one-arm row, using a resistance band.

1️⃣ Stand with one foot forward, like a Warrior 1 pose, with one end of the resistance band under that foot to keep it in place.

2️⃣ Hold the other end of the resistance band just above the knee align your the chin, level to the ground.

3️⃣ Tug the band back, keeping the elbow close to the ribs, feeling the engagement around the shoulder blade.

4️⃣ Repeat 8-10 times and switch sides.

We do movements like this in the Tuesday 10:40am Strength & Stability class with Jules, using hand weights and resistance bands. Join for a drop in class online or in person.

In this yoga series, we’ll explore the connection between body, mind, breath, and the nervous system, and how they collectively support our pelvic health.

A healthy pelvic floor is one that is fully integrated and responsive – one that can be strong & engaged when needed, and also soften & rest when the work is done. This class will focus on nurturing that awareness.

Through somatic movement, breath awareness, and guided meditation – we’ll release, relax, build strength & resilience – in support of our whole being wellness.

You can expect a fun and informative class, with self compassion as the heart of our practice – inviting us to move gently with deep care, as we honour wherever we are on the journey.

A study from our very own faculty member, Shelly Prosko, shows the benefit of yoga for post-menopausal women.

This study looked at how yoga that incorporates specific flowing transitions helps to improve balance, strength and reaction time.

Thank you to for all of your work on this!
