We have been playing with all sorts of hip strength movements in Jules’ Healthy Aging classes at the studio.

We love this one for how easy it is to do, and how much you will feel the effects afterwards.

All you need is a chair and socks or a cloth.

When the hip muscles are strong, pressure is taken off the knees and the low back.

Try this simple movement a few times and feel how much better you feel. And bonus, you can do this one in bed!

Congratulations to our newest Yoga Therapy Diploma graduate!

MC Scorsone (she/her) graduated from the Yoga Therapist Diploma Program in May, 2025. MC says:
“A colleague who used to work with me at Oakville Public Library knew of Ajna and shared that you offered yoga therapy. I looked you up online and was planning to start the program when I retired but online teaching was allowed due to COVID, so I registered and was able to start the program prior to retirement.

The program is solid and well rounded. The teachers in this program have a solid/deep knowledge on the subject they teach. The teaching reaches all the Koshas for healing – ie: touches the physical, mental and spiritual aspect of a person.

I value each teacher who shared their knowledge during this program. Each one of you brought something different to this program.I am so grateful for the connection and the long-time friendships I made from like-minded yoga teachers during this program.

Being able to observe an Ajna faculty member while they were teaching + getting feedback from them added tools to my toolbox and helped with expending my teaching practise as it allowed me to experience their teaching style, take advantage of their knowledge and educational points offered during their class.

I taught most of group class practicum hours at a community centre. Students really enjoyed the educational points. It was a novel approach for them. While offering these classes, I had a waiting list and the classes were full.

With the one-on-one practicum, I worked with clients with scoliosis, cancer, and athletes in recovery.

I retired from my 'corporate job' in July of 2025. One of the main focuses for my retirement is to dedicate more time to teaching yoga therapy and continuing my education. I teach yoga for the town of Oakville and teach weekly online classes to my clients. I will continue to do so for now, but my goal is to work in a clinic or in a rehabilitation center to help others with healing and/or finding empowerment through yoga (hopefully out west close to the mountains).

How does yogic philosophy fit into Yoga Therapy?

This course will examine teachings and philosophy of the yoga tradition from the Vedic age to the present. We will explore the philosophy of yoga therapy based in the principle branches of yoga including Hatha, Raja, Karma, Jnana, and Bhakti Yoga.

Through our study of the principle branches of yoga and foundational texts such as the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Samkya Karika, and the Yoga Sutras, we will learn how to integrate these teachings into our personal and professional practices.

Part of our 300 hour & Yoga Therapist Diploma Programs, but open to anyone for continuing education credit for Yoga Alliance and IAYT.
