We are the only studio on the island that trains teachers in both 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training and a 500 Hour Yoga Therapy Programs. We offer a wide variety of classes, ranging from Yin, Flow, Core Strength, 50+ Yoga, Gentle Hatha, Back

care, Vijnana Yoga and the Tensegrity Repair Series. Graduates of our Programs teach low-cost Hatha/ Flow and Therapeutic Yoga classes at our studio. We have an extensive mentorship program for Yoga Therapy Graduates, with teaching placements in heath-care organizations, businesses and local non-profits. Discover how targeted yoga practices can help improve balance, prevent falls and fractures, and support bone strength as we age. This extended session includes an educational component followed by a guided, interactive yoga class. You’ll learn how to practice mindfully and effectively using specific poses, props, and modifications designed to strengthen muscles, improve balance & coordination, increase range of motion and build bone density. No previous yoga experience is required. Suitable for all levels.

We explore movements like this every Monday at 10:30am in the ‘Balance & Fall Prevention’ class, and in our upcoming ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging and Chair Yoga’ yoga therapy training, May 22-24. Both are hybrid, meaning you can take part either online or in the studio.

To build core strength effectively, we want to practice dynamic movement with the breath.

Using a hand weight or block between the hands, press into the opposite hand to twist to the side, in a seated position.

Want a full-body movement to strengthen upper and lower body?

1. Place a resistance band under one foot and step the other foot back.

2. Tip forward from the hips and pull both elbows back in a rowing action as you simultaneously lift up the back leg.

This strengthens the shoulders as you provide more balance support.
