Victoria Primary Care Society Seeking Volunteer Board Members
Organizational Description:
Victoria Primary Care Society (VPCS) is the non-profit society providing operational and governance oversight to Health Care on Yates, a Nurse Practitioner run, primary health care clinic delivery
comprehensive primary health care services to residents of the greater Victoria area. VPCS is committed to core values of inclusivity, safety, equity, respect and collaboration and strives to support and promote excellence in board service. We are seeking board members interested in non-profit board experience with the enthusiasm to provide input and direction to a new board and primary care clinic.
Job Description:
Serving on the Victoria Primary Care Society Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who are passionate about strengthening leadership and governance in the health care, non- profit sector.
Board members are expected to have the financial acumen to read and understand Health Care on Yates financial statements and to otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.
Board meetings are held six to eight times per year, virtually or in person. Board members are expected to read distributed materials in advance of board meetings and to come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions.
Board members may be asked to serve on one or more committees of the board and to actively participate in board or committee work.
Board terms last for two years and board members can serve for up to three consecutive terms. If a full board complement (11 members) is not reached at the annual general meeting, directors may be appointed to serve a partial term, until the next scheduled annual general meeting.
Desired Skills and Expertise:
We are currently recruiting individuals with expertise in several areas. We invite expressions of interest from people who share our values and commitments and are available to participate actively and
meaningfully at the Board level. We are especially interested in hearing from individuals with knowledge and expertise in the fields of not-for-profit and/or organizational development and management, human resources management, and/or employment law.
