Deep Self Care for Body (&) Mind
The practices of Yoga have nothing to do with body-centric, fitness-oriented, ego-boosting exercise commonplace in the West. The original teachings of Yoga offer a deep trove of wisdom teachings leading us to create deep Self-awareness and true freedom.
The Classical tradition does use movements and postures, known as asanas, as helpful practice to mitigate physical aches and pains and help to begin to focus the mind, balance our energy (if done correctly) and deepen the breath, though this is preparatory practice for the subtler practices requiring stillness. As we work with these deeper practices and begin to balance thoughts and emotions we address our sense of limitation and begin let go of our stories, judgements, beliefs and habits that no longer serve us. As we deepen self-connection and understanding within we experience a greater sense of openness, ease and enrichment in life overall.
