Here is an example of very poor customer service. MBNA can not get this right, after 4 months. Here is their "pledge" to get one to switch from mail to online statements:
Convenient and good for the environment
You can receive your monthly statement by mail or "Go Paperless" to receive it online. An online statement contains all of the same information as a paper statement. You receive an email reminder when your online statement is ready to view, you can print and save your online statement from your computer - you can even access up to seven years of previous statements online free of charge.
Instead, there are no notices, nothing. Hours on the phone and multiple times resetting the account. But they are VERY quick to add on late fees and interest...because they never sent a notice online or via email.

MBNA can not seem to get my account straight. No email as promised after a 1 hour conversation on Friday. No electronic anything, in fact. Promised reversal of fee that should not be there - missing. Beginning to wonder if having an Alaska card with them that I use for nearly EVERY purchase is worth how awful they are.
They kept me on hold 30 minutes before answering. Then the insipid music. You'd think they could figure it out.

I contacted MBNA to ask for a refund (pro-rated) on the annual fee, paid just before Peter passed away. They were quick to cancel the card AND send it to collection (a month before the bill was due) when notified that he had passed. Do you think I've heard back from them? Of course not. How long does it take to pro-rate $90? How unethical is it to cancel the card (their action) and not return a portion of the fee? Just wondering.
