Wow! Thank you to all the clients that somehow find the time to show gestures of appreciation. I couldn’t believe it when I walked in this morning to find gifts from families covering our kitchen cart. They are never expected, but deeply appreciated. We are all so honoured to care for your family, and have no idea how you are finding the time and energy to bring gifts in your postpartum period!

Our amazing midwife Michaela welcomed her second child just a few weeks ago!!! 🥳Michaela worked so hard welcoming Earthside babies during her pregnancy, and is now working hard parenting two amazing children on her maternity leave! We are missing midwife Michaela, but enjoying watching her family grow!!! Baby Stevie is absolutely adored by her big sister, and has already attended an Earthside meeting, and a rally in support of the South Island Indigenous Midwives! 😍

// - Public funding for IVF (in-vitro fertilization) is a welcome change for many families in BC.

Starting July 2, eligible residents can apply for up to $19,000 toward one round of in vitro fertilization (IVF). Fertility treatment is costly and complex. This new program helps make care more accessible.

Fertility care is also deeply gendered. It often involves time, income and the bodies of women and gender-diverse people. It can have the biggest impact on people parenting alone or navigating care without support.

At YWCA Metro Vancouver, we support families through child care, housing for women-led families and community programs. Every family deserves support, no matter the path to parenthood.

We are so spoiled! Today’s lunch was entirely gifted! Salmon caught by a father and gifted; an amazing probiotic root beer from another family’s goody filled gift basket; and delicious chocolates! We never expect gifts, but are so appreciative when our clients offer these gestures 💕
