On Thursday, March 6th the Ministry of Health released an update on the publicly funded IVF Program including the start date and eligibility requirements.

The publicly funded IVF program will provide access to one-time funding, up to $19,000, for eligible BC residents. Applications open July 2, 2025.

If you are not a patient of Olive, please visit our webpage www.olivefertility.com/how-to-book for information on how to become a patient.

If you are a patient of Olive but haven’t seen a physician since March 8th, 2024, please call or email your Patient Care Coordinator to arrange an appointment.

If you have seen a physician at Olive since March 8th, 2024, and you meet the eligibility requirements listed on the website, we will send you more information through your patient portal once we have finalized details from the Ministry of Health.

All the information we have on the program can be found on the Ministry of Health website listed above.

We know that everyone will be anxious to learn more about the waitlist. Unfortunately, we have no further information from the BC Ministry of Health about how they want us to order patients when submitting their applications. The BC Ministry of Health has stated that they are developing a process for us to follow, and we will update when we know more.

Once we have more information from the Ministry of Health, we will be reaching out to those who qualify with next steps.

I am now offering Microneedling skin treatments, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, for $350/session. Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure where I use an FDA-approved electrical device containing multiple tiny sterile needles to puncture the surface skin. These sterile needles cause micro-injuries to the skin stimulating the body's natural healing process and resulting in an increased production of elastin and collagen. The induction of these two proteins can help smooth the skin and minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars and stretch marks. It can also help reduce hyperpigmentation and dark spots.

Do you suffer from excessive sweating? It is estimated that 2-3% of the population suffers from a condition called hyperhidrosis, a significant number of people. Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating unrelated to exercise or heat and can affect a person’s hands, feet and armpits. I am wanting to focus on axillary hyperhidrosis, aka sweaty armpits. This is a serious medical condition because how it can affect a person’s mental/emotional well-being and social life. The majority of people suffering from axillary hyperhidrosis find it embarrassing, uncomfortable and a nuisance. There are thankfully treatments available from antiperspirants to surgery to treat this condition. One treatment that I am excited to now offer in my clinic is Therapeutic Botox, which is a treatment that has been FDA approved since 2004. Studies have found that by injecting OnabotulinumtoxinA Injections (Botox®) under the arms people can achieve a 50%+ reduction in their excessive sweating for up to 4-6 months. This twice-a-year procedure is often covered by patients’ extended healthcare plans and can be life changing.

Are you bothered by the vertical lines above your lips? These form due to a combination of facial changes including increased laxity of the skin due to loss of collagen, repetitive contraction of the muscle that surrounds the lips and the loss of fat pads above the lip. With this patient our goal was to help rebuild her confidence using filler to reduce the vertical lines above her lip and recreate the natural shape of her upper lip.

Are you due for your PAP test? Regular screening reduces cervical cancer risk by 70%! As a Naturopathic Physician, I conduct Pap and female health exams. Women should start having cervical screening exams done starting at the age of 25 and, the majority of women require a PAP exam every 3 years unless BC Cancer has advised otherwise. One of my favourite treatments is re-volumizing the undereye. As we age, the skin under the eye loses elasticity and the fat pads of the undereye and mid-face shrink, resulting in a loss of support for the undereye leading to undereye hollows and grooves. These hollows and grooves can leave us looking chronically tired. By re-volumizing this area, we can look more refreshed and revitalized. Not everyone is a candidate for undereye volumizing, therefore have an in-depth assessment and discussion with your injector before committing. There are other ways to support the undereye if you are not a candidate.
