Hey sports fans! Avail West will be attending Operation Pegasus Jump in Campbell River July 14 – 20, 2025. Avail will have a tent with a hydration station and some other cool stuff. Drop by, tell your friends and if you are not aware of Operation Pegasus jump, look here for more info.

Avail Veterans West conducted a remarkable rappelling event over the weekend, and we would like to express our appreciation to everyone who participated! We are grateful for the assistance provided by Ronin Safety and Rescue, including equipment and expert guidance. Jason at Island Misfit Rescue is commended for his meticulous planning and ex*****on of this phenomenal event. The expertise of our Veteran Subject Matter Experts significantly contributed to the event's triumph. Update and Final instructions for June 14 Rappelling Event:

Looking forward to seeing you all this Saturday at Sunny Side Climbing Walls in Nanaimo!

Timings: Please plan to arrive by 9:30 so that we can get waivers signed and conduct a briefing

Arrival and Parking: There is parking on Nanaimo River Road and a short walk into the site. Look for the Avail Veterans flag. You may want to consider carpooling. Please feel free to comment below if you need a ride or have room and where you are coming from. If anyone is planning on walking on the ferry from Vancouver to attend, (Tsawwassen to Duke Point) and would like to get picked up, message us and we can arrange transport, (the 7:45 departure would be preferable, as no one will be here are 7:15 to get you).

Personal Dress: All gear (rope, harness, helmet, gloves etc) will be provided.
Please wear Closed Toe hiking or running shoes, and pants.

BRING A LAWN CHAIR!

There will be hotdogs and cold drinks provided, feel free to bring any other food and water you need, be prepared for the weather.

There are NO washrooms on site, but are close by (Cassidy/Nanaimo airport).
