Located at 905 Gordon Street, just 1.5 blocks from his old clinic, Dr. Tatra will be able to better serve his clients in a brand new latex-free facility with the most modern digital imaging technology and equipment. Maintaining his client-centered approach to dental care, Dr. Tatra has designed the bright and spacious new clinic to give you access to state of the art dental service and technology, including the latest in diagnostic and sterilization technologies, massaging chairs, and faster access to care in case of dental emergencies. Dr. Tatra is pleased to have his team moving to the new location with him. You will still be seeing Aileen at reception, Rachelle for your hygiene and Stacie as your Certified Dental Assistant. We welcome the addition of Heather Ovenden to our hygiene team, who has 10 years experience as a Certified Dental Assistant, followed by 9 years experience as a Dental Hygienist after completing a BSc in Dental Hygiene at UBC. 🔹Speeding teen driver kills rollerblading 12-year-old north of Shawnigan Lake, RCMP says🔹

A 12-year-old child rollerblading with their family members along Hillbank Road in Cowichan was killed on Monday evening when a speeding Honda Civic driven by a teen-aged driver lost control and struck the child, police allege, before crashing into a hydro pole. More from the RCMP:

Shawnigan Lake RCMP is investigating after a youth was killed in a motor vehicle collision in Shawnigan Lake.

On August 25, 2025, just after 8:30 p.m., Shawnigan Lake RCMP responded to the 4100 block of Hillbank Rd after a 12-year-old youth was struck and killed by a vehicle. Preliminary information obtained revealed that the youth was rollerblading with family members when a Honda Civic, travelling northbound lost control and hit the youth before hitting a telephone pole. The driver and passenger of the vehicle, both 17 years-old suffered minor injuries and transported to hospital for treatment.

“While we do not suspect that alcohol was involved, it has been determined that speed played an important factor in this tragic incident”, said Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the BC RCMP. “The investigation remains in its early stages and police continue to gather evidence”, he adds.

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP and a collision analyst attended to assist with the investigation.
