Sydney brings significant experience from the mental health space, and prioritizes holistic, warm, and connective practices, all framed from a systemic lens. M-M-I F.C.S.S is encouraging community members to take a few hours this month to join us for a mental health conversation intended for those connected to the agricultural industry and rural living. Brush up on current resources & language, look at ‘real-life’ scenarios from agriculture and explore the idea of help-seeking when needed. This session is available in person (with a complimentary breakfast) or virtually from the comfort and privacy of your own home. If everyone goes, no one goes alone!!

We all know these last few years have been tough for producers; the lack of rain, our political climate, problems with shipping due to strikes or tariffs, just to name a few. Following the pandemic many people have been struggling, alone, for a long time. As our levels of resilience decrease, the statistics for negative outcomes increase too, and so we feel that creating space for mental health conversations is needed.

Join M-M-I F.C.S.S for a few hours next week and explore ‘real-life’ examples from agriculture, share resources and explore the idea of help-seeking. We're thrilled to welcome Student Therapist, Sarah, to our crew. Sarah will be completing practicum hours towards her 3-year Expressive Arts Therapy program. She brings a ton of experience to this space, bringing more than a decade of counselling experience in supporting folks with eating problems and body image concerns.

She's shifting focus a bit now, opening up to see clients with women's health issues, depression, anxiety, and a multitude of other concerns that may arise. She also recently completed her Somatic Experiencing Practitioner training, so she approaches all of her work from a trauma-responsive, attachment-informed lens.

Best part? She'll be seeing clients at a reduced rate of $60/session, and available for virtual sessions for your flexibility.

We have this weird little saying in our work—the personal is political. And gosh, these days, it seems more evident by the day.

The things we struggle with—mental health, relationships, burnout, access to care—aren’t just personal battles. They’re shaped by the world we live in, the systems we navigate, and the support (or lack of it) around us.

So if you're feeling overwhelmed, especially in this current climate, know that it’s not just you. Looking after yourself is not just personal—it’s powerful. It’s an act of resistance, a statement that we all deserve better. There's so many ways to extend this too. Your emotions of anger, frustration, fear, grief, can drive advocacy and push for change.

By locating our own concerns in the broader political landscape, we can feel a tiny bit less shame and isolation in our struggles. These issues aren't our personal failures. They're the failure of a system to support as it should.

The personal is political.
