It’s been a wonderful almost 31 years!
You may have noticed a number of new faces at Wakaw Pharmacy this past while.
While new people and changes have been gradual, the time has come for Colette and Mike to hang up their white coats and say goodbye 😊
We are most grateful for the incredible support we have received from this community and the surrounding area since we first landed here on a cold December day in 1994 with a one year old Rebecca in tow.
We have been honoured to be part of the health care team in Wakaw, and have treasured our relationships with many dedicated, talented, kind and collaborative people over the years in many allied healthcare professions.
We have been so proud to be part of the Wakaw business community. From the Board of Trade way back when, to all the amazing things happening in Wakaw today, it is so wonderful to be part of such a vibrant community and cooperate and plan with so many people, organizations and businesses through the years.
We have employed the most amazing people! So many hard working, creative and loyal employees and coworkers have built and sustained our pharmacy over the years. We have been proud to have hosted and employed dozens of pharmacy interns and high school students, from whom we’ve learned so much. A special mention of our longtime dispensary assistant Lorraine Vachon, who has simply been an integral part of our business since 1996.
We’ve spent many long hours, days and years at the pharmacy, often without a lot of holidays or relief. We finally grew our own pharmacist when that little one-year-old Rebecca convocated and joined our practice in 2017. Her siblings Josie and Matthew spent their childhoods at the pharmacy as well, both working for many years assisting in our family business from garbage collectors and weed-pullers to full-fledged customer service experts! Working together as a family in this business has been the best ❤️
Last, but most importantly, we are so grateful for all of our patients and customers.
For those of you that trusted us to be part of your circle of care, we thank you for that trust. Journeying with you through health events and new conditions, sadness and joy, and all of life's challenges and triumphs has been an honour. We truly loved our work every day. The relationships we have formed with all of you, your children and even grandchildren, is the best reward ever.
Thank you for your loyalty, your patronage of our pharmacy and your friendships.
Colette has somehow managed to “be on holidays” already 😂 and Mike’s last day is this Friday, Sept 19.
We know that the new dispensary team under the management of Marty Antaya will continue to serve Wakaw well. Marty joins Payton, who many of you know, and brings Laurel and Laverne on board. Lorraine and Ayush will keep the pharmacists in line, and our very capable front store manager Vikke Vachon and her crew of Gabby, Amanda, Vivian and Hannah will keep the whole place running smoothly!
So this isn’t a final goodbye, but rather a giant “thank you” and “see you around” this great town we call home!
