This summer, Dylan Maxwell shadowed our Optometrist Maureen Oyaide-Ofenor OD, MSc, PVT, CPNP, FOWNS

Dylan Maxwell is a biomedical science student from with plans to attend

While in the exam room, Dylan continued to show interest by not only asking questions about the Eyes, Gut, Brain connection, but also went over and beyond to understand pathology and physiology of eye diseases.
He also got to learn from our Optician and Optometrist assistant/ Second year Optometry student. In his words
« Thank you for allowing me to shadow you. I will always appreciate my time at Vine Eye Care and getting to know you, Jessie, loana, and Jodie.

I cannot say thank you enough for this experience. It has deepened my interest and passion for optometry in ways that words cannot describe. You have also provided me insight into the business of owning an optometry clinic, ideal patient-doctor relationships, good customer service, and the work-life balance that such a profession offers, and for that, I thank you. »

many different ocular diseases and disorders (cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, NAION, AION, CRAO, CRVO, BRAO, BRVO, diabetic retinopathy, coloboma, iritis, accommodative esotropia, herpes keratitis, pterygium, and manifestations of melanoma in the eye)
• Learned about pre-testing procedures
(visual field test, OCT scans, and non-contact tonometry)
• Learned how to analyze and detect issues in the eye utilizing an OCT scan
• Learned the implications of nutrition on
eye health Learned about dry eye and the ZEST treatment

Dylan Maxwell is working really hard to become an Optometrist and the evidence of this was felt by everyone Vine Eye Care

He earned the Optometry key chain for his compassionate, professional, caring, patient, life long learning, contributions and inquisitiveness while at the clinic. We have no doubt he would make an excellent Optometrist.

Karina was so confident as she learnt about the link between our eyes, brain and general health.

We are so proud of Jessie Byers. She got to teach some high school science students about the eyes.

Jessie explained her journey to and how she knew that a career in optometry was what she wanted to.

Dr Maureen got to watch Jessie and also had a chance to explain how seeing is more than 20/20 vision.

We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Optometrist Assistant to join our eye care team. The ideal candidate will support our optometrist with patient care, preliminary testing, and administrative tasks. A passion for patient service and a strong interest in eye health are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
Greet and check in patients, verify insurance information, and update records

Perform pre-testing procedures (e.g., visual acuity, tonometry, auto-refraction)

Assist patients with frame selection and lens options, Schedule appointments and manage patient flow

Maintain a clean and organized work environment, Educate patients on contact lens care and eyewear usage

Prepare exam rooms and assist the optometrist as needed, Handle phone inquiries and customer service tasks

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required

Previous experience in optometry or a medical office preferred, Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Comfortable using computer systems and electronic medical records (EMR)

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, Friendly, professional demeanor with a strong focus on customer service
