🚨Please be aware: Starting this Monday October 6th, asphalt resurfacing work will begin on the east side of the Durham Street bridge! 🚦🚧

The county says the paving will last until late October. During this time, drivers can expect more alternating lane closures and delays.

⏰Please give yourself plenty of travel time and it's always courteous to show up *10 mins* prior to your appointment time.

We know it's been frustrating, but there might be light at the end of the tunnel (bridge) now! 🤞🏼🙏🏼

Thank you kindly,

This month, nearly 2,600 people in Canada will hear the words, “You have breast cancer.” – Canadian Cancer Society

https://cancer.ca/en/ways-to-give/breast-cancer-awareness-month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Canada – a time to highlight a disease that impacts thousands of Canadians every year. Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer among women and people with breasts. In 2024, it accounted for 13% of all cancer deaths in this group.

The good news is that early detection saves lives and screening for breast cancer is effective. When breast cancer is found early, treatment is often less invasive, recovery is quicker, and the chances of a full recovery are much higher. – Government of Canada

Together through early detection, education, and community support, we can make a difference! 💕💪

We are anticipating a smooth transition, but you never know with these things - it should not affect your appointments, but on the off chance it does, we will work with our clients to ensure a quick resolution! And some things (confirmations, ect.) you are used to seeing, might be a little different.

Thank you, we appreciate your patience and kindness during this time!

How Compression Garments Actually Help (Not Restrict) Lymph Flow 🧦💧

One of the biggest myths I hear is:
👉 “Compression garments must block or restrict flow because they feel tight.”

But here’s the truth: compression garments don’t block your lymph – they guide it. Let’s break it down 👇

💡 The Science Behind Compression
• Gentle External Pressure: Compression garments provide a light, even pressure to the tissues.
• Closing the Gap: This pressure reduces the distance fluid has to travel, making it easier for your lymphatic vessels to pick it up.
• Preventing Backflow: Instead of letting fluid pool in the tissues, compression keeps it moving upward toward healthy drainage areas.

👉 Think of compression as a “hug” that gives your lymph a push in the right direction. 🤗

✅ What Compression Garments Do
• Encourage lymph fluid to move out of swollen areas 🚶‍♀️
• Reduce the risk of further swelling or fibrosis
• Support tissues after MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage)
• Improve comfort and mobility in daily life

❌ What They Don’t Do
• They do NOT “cut off” circulation when properly fitted
• They do NOT replace lymphatic therapy
• They are NOT meant to be painfully tight

🔑 Key Tip
Compression should always be:
✔️ Correctly measured and fitted
✔️ Comfortable enough to wear daily
✔️ Paired with movement, hydration, and MLD for best results

✨ Compression garments are not the enemy — they are powerful tools for lymph health and healing.

🌿 WAKE UP YOUR LYMPH — MORNING ROUTINE FOR A HEALTHIER FLOW
By Bianca Botha, CLT, RLD & MLDT

Your lymphatic system works through the night to filter waste, balance fluids, and protect your immune system — but it has no pump of its own. That’s why the first few minutes after you wake are the perfect time to give it a gentle boost.

Here’s how:
1️⃣ Stretch Before Your Feet Hit the Floor – Wake up your muscle pumps to start moving lymph from your arms and legs toward your torso.

2️⃣ Deep Belly Breathing – Your thoracic duct passes through the aortic hiatus of your diaphragm (not the esophageal opening). Each breath helps pump lymph upward into your bloodstream.

3️⃣ Hydrate Immediately – A glass of water keeps lymph fluid thin and moving smoothly.

4️⃣ Gentle Movement Within 10 Minutes of Waking – Light walking, toe bounces, or stretches activate calf and thigh muscles to keep lymph flowing.

5️⃣ Open the Main Drainage Pathways – Lightly massage above your collarbones, underarms, and behind your knees to “open the gates” for better flow.

✨ Tip: Even 3 minutes of this routine can help reduce puffiness, boost immune readiness, and increase your morning energy.
