Hi friends ๐
I hope you're all doing as well as possible in this weird time we're living in. I've been pretty quiet here on this page over the past 2 weeks, watching the news evolve on a daily basis, while also trying to adjust to a new (hopefully somewhat temporary) normal (is anything normal right now?) at home full time.
I am one of those people who thrives from a regular routine, so although this adjustment has been challenging at at times, I also consider myself one of the lucky ones to be able to stay at home during this chaos and focus on my health and family.
First of all - thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of the front line workers and essential employees who are risking their lives on a daily basis in order to save our communities. Your heroic actions are not going unnoticed.
Secondly, as I'm sure you are all aware by now, all of our local gyms are closed for our safety, so I will not be teaching any classes for the time being. I do however encourage you to try and keep some sort of movement routine in your schedule (however that may look right now). I know personally that my dog is beyond thrilled to have me home everyday and we're both enjoying our daily walks, rain or shine! There are also some great online resources to access from our local gyms to help with home workouts, as well as an abundance of online yoga classes that you can do from the comfort of your home. Don't forget to incorporate movement that you ENJOY, especially as the weather is getting nicer, such as gardening and yard work, spring cleaning (yes, there are a few people who actually enjoy this!), or just simply playing outside if you're home with your kiddos!
Thirdly, these uncertain times are especially challenging for our mental health, so don't underestimate the power of meditation! Whether you're familiar with this practice, or completely new to it, now is a great time to make it a daily habit, even for just 5 minutes. There are all sorts of different ways you can meditate, so find what works for you, and again, there are some great online resources to help you out, such as the HeadSpace app.
Until we are able to meet on our mats again, take care of you and your loved ones, do what you can to stay home, wash your hands, and try your best to take a moment of gratitude each day for what you have.
Meg
