Let’s talk about the connection between your feet and your lower back pain, and helping that low back pain once you have it.

Often, biomechanical problems with your feet can trigger back pain. If you have a leg-length discrepancy (one leg is longer than the other), this can impact the way you walk and leave you with back pain. Even something simple like a flat foot can cause back pain. How? Well, a low arch can change your posture, making your lower back curve more than it should. In turn, this can leave you with low back pain.

Similarly, the way your feet turn (called pronation) also impacts your back. If your feet overpronate, or turn inward when you walk or run, you may notice back and knee pain. Or, if you supinate (your feet turn outward) you can impact your spinal alignment.

With low back pain, we also look at hamstrings, glutes and quadriceps muscles as well.

Here’s some quick tips for low back pain:

- Check your shoes (look into some quality shoes, and potentially think about some good support for at home inside too).

- Invest in some good insoles!

- Stretching

-Lift properly, lots of people lift with their low back instead of their leg and hip muscles.

- Look into some simple core exercises to help stabilize your spine.

**As a side note, there are other possibilities that can lead to low back pain. Nerve pain, arthritic changes, disc issues (herniation, bulging, etc).

Happy holidays to everyone, and thank you for supporting my small business! I will share some
simple stretches below!

I have alot of interest about cupping and the common question is “what does it do?”

Cupping is the suction of a small cup on the skin, which results in
•relaxation of the muscles (Have you ever felt great after a massage and then 4 days later you’re back to being sore? THIS will leave longer effects)
•Colds/Digestion/Menstrual cramps (asthma, coughs, allergies, IBS, crohns, gastritis, diarrhea, (cramps can lessen or diminish within 3 months of using!)
•TMJ, arthritis (can be use over joints well), frozen shoulder, tennis/golfers elbow, ITband, any injury can benefit.
•Headaches, plantar fasciitis, can be used 4 weeks after surgery to help heal scars as well!

With all that said, here is a testimonial:

“Cupping with massage has helped my back even more then massage could! My back has hurt consistently for 4 years, I had cupping done, and the next day I didn’t feel pain and couldn’t believe it, it lasted 3 weeks till it slightly came back and it has also helped my hips that were always sore! It really is awesome!”

Hi everyone :)
I really do hate to do this to the people who are great with being on time and punctual to there appointments with myself, thank you!
As of today, March 27/2017, there will be a $30 no show fee if you do not give me 24 hours notice. I've had a few people lately cancel very suddenly (and I give a reminder call). Under Certain circumstances I will obviously not charge this (death, sickeness, etc).

Thanks!
Julie

:) a good read!

What is Fascia?
Fascia is tough connective tissue that creates a 3-dimensional web extending without interruption from head to toe. Fascia surrounds and infuses every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel, and organ, all the way down to the cellular level.

The fascial system affects every system and function in your body- musculoskeletal, neurological, metabolic, etc. The white, glistening fibers you see when you pull a piece of meat apart or when you pull chicken skin away is fascia.

What is Fascia made of ?
Fascia consists of a complex which has three parts:
1. Elastin fibers - This is the elastic and stretchable part of the complex.

2. Collagen fibers - These fibers are extremely tough and give support to the
structure.

3. Ground substance/matrix: A gelatinous like substance that transports metabolic
material throughout the body

What does fascia do?
The fascial system generally supports, stabilizes, and cushions. Fascia creates separation between vessels, organs, bones, and muscles. It creates space through which delicate nerves, blood vessels, and fluids can pass.

What are Fascial Restrictions?
In a healthy state, the collagen fibers wrap around the elastic fibers in a relaxed, wavy configuration. Trauma, repetitive motion, inflammation, or poor posture can cause the fascia to become solidified and shortened. These thickened areas are referred to as a fascial restriction. Fascial restrictions have the capacity of creating up to 2,000 pounds of pressure per square inch in a restricted area. That crushing pressure can compromise any physiological system in the body resulting in pain and dysfunction.

The fascia throughout the body is all interconnected like the yarn in a sweater or a complex spider web. A restriction in one area of the body creates tension throughout this web pulling on other distant structures. This explains why some people may have pain that appears unrelated to their original injury. Furthermore, myofascial restrictions do not show up on common standardized tests such as x-rays, MRI, CAT scans, etc.

Fascial restrictions can pull the body out of its normal alignment, compressing joint surfaces and bulging disks, resulting in pain, loss of motion, and weakness.
