What’s the difference between dry needling and acupuncture?🤔
Dry needling is often confused with acupuncture, but they’re actually different.
Acupuncture places needles based on energy channels in the body, while dry needling uses trigger points in muscles that are found during your assessment.
Some people find dry needling a little uncomfortable at first, but your physiotherapist will check in with you and can pause or adjust to keep you comfortable throughout treatment.
When it comes to insurance, dry needling is covered under physiotherapy for direct billing. It cannot be billed under acupuncture.
