Moose was an era. Moose was a legend at 19.5. He was part of every memory that made us the Russo family. My office, our two houses, the sweet juice, our wedding, both kids, Covid. All our trips, cottages, car rides, hockey tournaments. Moose wasn’t just our family pet, he was a staple Russo icon! Moose- you brought us joy every minute of your life. I wouldn’t trade this heartbreak for a second. You were our best friend. Our snuggle. Our secret keeper. Our comfort. I can’t imagine my life without you to be honest! It’s called “grapefruit” because the fruit grows in clusters on the tree, just like grapes on a vine.
Grapefruit is a mix between the pomelo—a base fruit—and a sweet orange, which itself is a hybrid of pomelo and mandarin.
Half of a fresh grapefruit eaten before meals was associated with significant weight loss. Insulin resistance was improved with fresh grapefruit.
It is famous for interacting with certain medications (like statins), as it can affect how enzymes break down drugs in the body.

This short podcast on breaking habits really stuck with me. .
This is a real struggle for patients. Me included! We all know what we should be doing. Exercise. Clean diet. Less sugar. No alcohol. Sleep. But let’s be honest… life is full of ups and downs and real life is never that simple. sometimes there are real obstacles and other times we really do fabricate them!
Something in this podcast that really stuck with me was about a man who wanted to start going to the gym. he started by just showing up. He never exercised. He just showed up stood there for a minute every day and left. Eventually this turned into 20 minutes. And then a full gym work out. He knew he had to go to the gym but he just couldn’t get himself there. Once he made a habit of going… it all changed. .
This year I told myself to start small. If you recall-
1 glass of water before my coffee along side squats and push up. Now I’m heading into the garage gym. It’s 10-20 minutes at a time. But I can already feel the change. Just start.

Chocolate protien is waffles. To start a busy Saturday. .
1 cup spelt flour
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Add dry ingredients
3/4 cup milk of choice (I used soy)
1 egg
Mix wet with dry. If still to dry add more milk or high protein yogurt.
Add to waffle maker. And add chocolate chips.

I see colleagues all over the map travelling and doing all sorts of additions to their careers. …. Sometimes it makes me anxious but more then Ever I’m like “meh” I am actually good right here. I really am Good!
Simple, one on one genuine care, not finding a niche but treating each patient individually because so many factors matter in health. I hear you!
Instead I’m Spending time with my kids who are 12 and 14, fully engaged in sport and I’m their biggest fan.
Finding time for my husband when we can and family trips for quality time. And making effort for family diners at the dining table for simple conversations.
Finding time to go north to visit my parents which is always a new adventure. Aging parents is not easy and I appreciate anyone who’s here with me.
And enjoying a community that has each other’s backs every step of the way. Life is better with community.
Besides being done w snow and looking forward to summer - I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Conclusions: Postmenopausal women showed a clear shift toward lower lean mass and greater central adiposity across BMI categories. These patterns indicate a consistent deterioration in body composition during the menopausal transition.”
Doesn’t sound to good if you ask me. And the changes were most pronounced in “normal” sized women.
Results showed Across all BMI categories, postmenopausal women demonstrated significantly lower lean body mass, soft lean mass, skeletal muscle mass, total body water, protein, and mineral content compared with premenopausal and perimenopausal women.

Yup not gonna lie I’m sure my cells were fighting for their lives too!!! …. Our kids are definitely much more aware, in tune and healthier. I didn’t eat half of what they do at their age but I love this for them! .
Not to mention all my real talks with them on puberty, periods, libido and s*x. Bahahahah. Don’t think anyone spoke about this to me!
