In honour of Concussion Awareness Week, we recognize Rowan’s Law, a legacy that continues to drive awareness, education and policy around concussion safety in sport and beyond.
Named in memory of Rowan Stringer, a high school rugby player who tragically died in 2013 from Second Impact Syndrome, Rowan’s Law reminds us of the critical importance of recognizing and properly managing concussions.
Under Rowan’s Law, we are reminded that:
Early recognition saves lives
Open communication is essential
Proper recovery cannot be rushed
As an organization that supports and empowers Certified Athletic Therapists across Canada, the CATA is committed to safer sport, better education and increased concussion awareness.
