What an exciting day in women’s health!
PCOS is officially being renamed PMOS — Polycystic Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome — and honestly… it’s about time. 👏
For years I’ve been explaining to patients that this is not just an ovarian condition. Blood sugar regulation, insulin resistance, inflammation, stress physiology, sleep, nourishment, movement, gut health and nervous system balance all matter when it comes to restoring healthy ovulation and cycles.
Now the name is finally catching up to what many of us in Naturopathic Medicine have been seeing clinically for decades.
While the conventional approach is still often focused on pharmaceuticals to override symptoms, there is so much more we can do to support the body toward true ovarian and metabolic balance.
AND bonus happiness for the day… a local midwifery collective knowingly caught a breech baby safely at HOME. 🤍
Absolute respect for skilled, informed, collaborative maternity care and women having supported choices in birth. You can bet I’ll be connecting expectant mamas planning home births with this amazing team. ✨
