I am a Naturopathic Doctor, Lactation Educator and hippie mama with a family focused naturopathic medicine practice in Waterdown ON. I have focused my clinical practice in the areas of women's health, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, & pediatrics for 15 years. Another successful HOME VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) for the books!

I saw Mom and baby today for their first wellness check- up 7 days post partum.

Mom and Dad had a mostly private (and fast) birth experience, with their Traditional Birth Attendants (TBA) and doula arriving just as Dad was catching baby.

Mom and baby are happy and in love. Mom had such a positive birth-ing day compared to her previous experience. She is healing well, is on the move and asked about light gentle walks around the block because she is feeling so great.

With a firm and positive mindset and a perinatal team to support you, Home VBACs are a thing!

Breastfeeding has not only protective health benefits for baby, but for Mama too!

Breastfeeding has long been linked to a reduced risk of breast cancer, but how it has this effect isn’t entirely clear. Now, scientists have found that women who have breastfed have more specialised immune cells in their breasts, which may keep malignant ones in check.

Previous research suggests that the risk of breast cancer – the second most common form of cancer in the world – is reduced by 4.3 per cent for every one year of breastfeeding, with the protective effects perhaps particularly benefitting older mothers.
