Reformer Essentials is a progressive 4-week series designed to introduce you to the fundamentals and principles of Reformer Pilates.
Perfect for beginners or anyone looking to revisit the fundamentals, this series builds a strong foundation in technique, strength, and mobility while helping you feel confident on the equipment.
Over the 4 weeks, you’ll learn how to safely and effectively use the Reformer, strengthen your core, improve posture, and develop body awareness. Each class builds on the last, giving you the tools and confidence to progress into our other Reformer offerings.
What to Expect Each Week:
Week 1 – Getting to Know the Reformer
Learn the parts of the machine, safety essentials, and foundational movements. Focus on the pilates principles, while moving through the essential exercises.
Week 2 – Core Stability & Control
Dive deeper into engaging your core, understanding muscle activation, and moving with precision through essential sequences.
Week 3 – Strength & Mobility
Build on your foundation with exercises that enhance strength, flexibility, and coordination while reinforcing proper technique.
Week 4 – Putting It All Together
Flow through a sequence that combines everything you’ve learned, leaving you confident and ready to progress to the next level of Reformer classes.
Recommended: Completing all 4 sessions will set you up with the essential skills needed to get the most out of your Pilates journey.

What is Breathwork?
A simple definition of breathwork is “breathing in a specific pattern to achieve a certain goal.” During a session, we use different types of breathing—varying the inhale and exhale, the duration, speed, and intensity—combined with breath holds or retentions (on either the inhale or exhale). This directly influences the central nervous system and creates ripple effects that can bring about physical, mental, and emotional shifts.
Some benefits people seek from breathwork include:
> More energy and vitality
> Greater clarity and focus
> Pain relief and resilience
> A deeper sense of presence and peace
While the science of breathwork is still emerging, the practice itself is ancient. Conscious breathing has been part of human traditions for thousands of years—through yogic pranayama, qi gong, martial arts, Taoist, Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, Shamanic, and Sufi practices. Breathwork acts like a light, illuminating mental and emotional shadows so they can be seen and consciously released.
Every session is unique. For some, the impact is physical—feeling lighter, calmer, or more energized. For others, it may bring emotional release, mental clarity, or even a deeper connection with the roots of their challenges and the essence of who they are.
My intention in offering breathwork is to help clients and their families bring awareness to limiting beliefs, stress, and anxiety that may be holding them back—whether in everyday life or in the workplace.

The Yogashala opened in 2013 and Waterdown was the first choice for a location due to its growth and potential. Yogashala’s vision was always to provide a safe, supportive and humble environment for the community, all members, teachers and staff. We wanted to break down the walls of intimidation that may come with beginning a yoga practice and stepping into a studio setting and so the personal experience that you feel as you come into Yogashala has from the beginning been the most important tool in succeeding the vision of creating a judgment free space.
We strive to be a place where you come to feel good and leave feeling even better, that happens because of the personal and hands on guidance you will receive and we achieve this due to the fact that Yogashala is not a large company, we are not a franchise, we are not a conglomerate; we are here to share our passion and our lives with the Waterdown community. We want Yogashala to be a close knit, personal, and comfortable place to come hang out, practice yoga, make new friends, and have a supportive environment that is always available to you. We make huge efforts to learn everybody’s name and build personal relationships and connections with each and every person that enters through our doors…provided you want us to learn your name :)
From the beginning everyone who has been involved in Yogashala has opened their hearts, minds, and their lives to share everything with you, the staff, teachers and energy exchange volunteers are the root of this studio and we hope you will love us and our studio; we know you will!! We are in the business not only of yoga and wellness but supporting other local business in Waterdown; that has been an important part of our vision from the beginning because we want to help maintain the “village” feel of Waterdown by shopping and supporting local!
Where can you find us?
In keeping with Waterdown’s full name “Victorian Village of Waterdown”, we found the perfect spot! Right in the heart of Waterdown is where you will find us. You can find us in the newly built, but Victorian style building, at 312 Dundas Street East in the lower level. In our space you will find 3 yoga rooms with one being an infrared hot room, another room having the Iyengar Rope Wall System and the third room is a regular temperature room that most often facilities the Barre classes. We offer a full service studio with shower facilities equipped with everything you need for after a class if you choose and an array of complimentary offerings if you so need!
Our mission is to give you the inspiration to live a happier, healthier life. To give you the knowledge and guidance to help you with your own transformation. To give you the motivation and encouragement to reach your destination. The perfect time to join us is now. We work in our converted and restored space. We started from the ground up and you can too.
