The Vagus Nerve is the primary parasympathetic nerve to the body. It connects the brain to the heart, lungs, gut, immune system and inflammation pathways.
Over 80% of its fibres send information from the body to the brain, not the other way around.
This is your rest, repair and regulate system.
Under active vagus nerve symptoms include chronic anxiety, poor stress tolerance, digestive issues, shallow breathing, poor sleep, cold hands and feet, emotional reactivity or shutdown, and low heart rate variability.
This is not a mindset issue, it’s a neurophysiological issue.
Activate the vagus nerve with slow nasal breathing, humming or singing, cold exposure to the face, gargling, meditation, slow rhythmic movement and gentle diaphragm work.
