🌱"Don't go through life, grow through life"🌱 ~ Eric Butterworth

I'm ecstatic to announce I am now the official business owner of Goldsworthy Wellness! I look forward to growing in this role with our amazing staff, practitioners, patients, and the continuing support of my mentor and father, Dr. Jeff. I am honoured by the trust our patients have put in us for their health and wellness, and I will work to uphold this responsibility and serve the community in this new capacity.

In celebration of this milestone, I will be offering 💲10 off to all existing chiropractic patients on their first visit with me in the New Year! See the post for details.

Yours in Health,
Dr. Adrienne

For patients currently having issues with back pain, Dr Kirstie has an instructional yoga class specifically for those with back issues! She has generously opened it up for free this week only.

Things got worse today. ⁣

I know. I feel it too. There is something very interesting about having a career as a healthcare provider, watching the world go into crisis over a healthcare related issue, and not being able to help. ⁣

I got called off work last week, but I am trying to find creative ways to support my community using methods that do not involve physical touch (I think this is the largest conundrum the chiropractic profession has ever faced as we primarily use our hands to heal). ⁣

You may be finding that you are dealing with back pain right now - many of you have had this before, for some of you this is new. But it isn’t surprising with the radical change in routine, psychological stress, and postures we are taking on right now slumped over cell phones and computers trying to figure out where we go from here. ⁣

I want to help. Before this all started, I was in the process of converting my program Yoga for Back Pain into an online format so people could access it from the comfort of their homes. I had just finished filming an intro class that is going to be available as part of a paid program next week. ⁣

But before that happens, I want to offer this content to you at no charge. Don’t worry if you have never done yoga before, this class is beginner-friendly and designed to help manage back pain and reduce stress. ⁣

Click this link to provide your email address and you will immediately find the link in your inbox. ⁣http://eepurl.com/gWB3hT

This will only be available this week so please take advantage of this while it is complimentary and share this with anyone who could benefit. I hope this is a small spec of something to look forward to, and I especially hope you walk away feeling less pain, less stress, and more yourself ❤️⁣

CLINIC CLOSURE

In the wake of recent COVID-19 updates and at the recommendation of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, and the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario we have made the difficult decision to close the clinic beginning tonight until March 27th. We will continually re-evaluate to make the decision to best protect our patients, practitioners, staff and the community.

If you currently have an appointment scheduled during this time we will be in touch.

If you are in acute pain or have an emergency, please contact the office and we will be able to help via phone call or schedule emergency treatment if necessary.

Wishing everyone stay safe, stay informed and stay positive. We will get through this together.

Yours In Health,
The Goldsworthy Wellness Team

Welcome back to (wednes)day! Last week we talked about the infraspinatus trigger point pain and how they can happen. Today we'll talk about what you can do at home to help!
✖️TAKE A BREAK from activities that use this muscle a lot - like doing things overhead or reaching for something behind you in the car.
🤸STRETCH - there are two different static (holding) stretches you can do to get the different pieces of this muscle. The first one is you can use a towel behind your back and use your top hand to gently pull your bottom hand up and into the stretch. The second is to reach across your body and use your other hand to add some gentle pressure. You might find it easier and more comfortable to stretch during a warm shower. The third one you're actually actively trying to increase the stretch. You lay on your back with your arm and elbow resting at 90 degrees. Let your forearm roll forward and hang with gravity without letting the ball of your shoulder come up off the table. Taking deep breathes, when you breathe out try and push your hand further into the stretch. When you breathe in relax.
💪EXERCISE - unless there was something traumatic, your muscle was likely aggravated because it wasn't conditioned enough to withstand your everyday activities. Laying on your side with a light weight and doing external rotation will help strengthen this muscle. Start light and go slow!
🛏️PILLOW SUPPORT - use your pillow to help support this muscle when you're resting. Check of the pictures for support for sleeping on your back, side, or just while you're sitting. Be aware of sleeping with your hands reaching over your head because this can stress the muscle.

Shoulder problems are COMPLICATED! If you're having any issues, come in and get a full assessment.

⏸️𝑮𝑰𝑽𝑬 𝒀𝑶𝑼𝑹𝑺𝑬𝑳𝑭 𝑷𝑬𝑹𝑴𝑰𝑺𝑺𝑰𝑶𝑵 𝑻𝑶 𝑷𝑨𝑼𝑺𝑬⏸️

I began this year by sitting down and scheduling how I spent my 'free' time. I felt I was constantly working but never managing to get anything done. I felt guilty when I wasn't working and it was wearing on me.

So I made a list of things I wanted to fit in every month - accounting time, Instagram planning, extended learning, working out, meeting up with friends, cleaning the house, and NOTHING. I have sections of time scheduled in to DO NOTHING AND NOT FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT.

Our culture is getting progressively busier and the rates of burn out are growing. You aren't always going to be able to find extra time, sometimes you have to consciously make it. Take time to refuel so you can start giving the world the best of you, instead of what's left of you.

What do you like to do to help you refuel?
