It’s Mothers Day.

For many, this day is filled with joy, love, gratitude, and celebration.
For others, it carries grief, heartbreak, anger, longing, or quiet sadness.
Today, we are holding space for all of it.

And today, we are thinking especially of the puppy mill mommas — and the many other young or unethically bred dogs — who have crossed our paths over the years.

Look into their eyes.
Then look again.

The sadness they carry is impossible to ignore. These sweet souls were used, discarded, and deprived of the love every living being deserves. So many arrive exhausted, fearful, and emotionally shut down… as though they have simply stopped expecting kindness from the world.

It is heartbreaking.
It is devastating.

But as the song says… they’re not broken, just bent.

Their freedom rides gave them a second chance. Some will learn to trust quickly. Others may carry fear for the rest of their lives. But now they know safety. Warm beds. Gentle hands. Full bellies. Soft words. Love.

And that matters.

Today, with deep love and enormous respect, we celebrate these extraordinary mothers.
Happy Mother’s Day to the survivors, the fighters, and the gentle souls learning that life can still be beautiful. 🤍

Today is the day! The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Grand Philharmonic Choir will be underway today - rain or shine. They would love some extra cheerleaders on the sidelines to rally the troops. Keep in mind, we are artists…not necessarily athletes… so you should have lots of time to gather around and cheer them on 😉. See details below… donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt ❤️

What a happy crowd!

Every spring, members of the Grand Philharmonic Choir get together for a 5K walk and run through Waterloo Park. It's a great social time, and also our most important fundraising activity of the year.

This photo from last year shows Waterloo mayor Dorothy McCabe, who came by to wish us well. She's pictured with our singer participants from the adult, youth and children's choirs -- along with conductors and family members!

This year we're hoping to raise $17,000 to help pay costs for the many concerts and other music-making we do all year.

Over the years, many members of our TLC Groomery family have experienced life-changing medical journeys — whether personally or alongside someone they love. Please know that even when time passes between visits, we think about you often and wonder how you are doing.

Our clients are more than appointments on a schedule. You are part of our community, and we carry your stories with us. 💜

Time is a funny thing. It rules us, consumes us… yet somehow slips quietly through our fingers. One day becomes the next before we even notice what we’ve lost.
Our Tongue-Out Tuesday is a day late—but today, we’ll pause time, just for a moment, and hold close the years of love, laughter, and memories that never really leave us. In memory of: Huck. Melky. Eddie. Mac. Molly.

Do you even lift ‘bro? Dog grooming is basically a full-body sport… with fur.

To keep up, groomers (especially the “vintage edition” models) have to stay strong, mobile, and at least somewhat indestructible.

After multiple rounds of 🤧🤢 we think we’re finally back in the land of the living. But even the toughest groomers have their limits—turns out Susan can NOT lift a bullmastiff!

So it’s back to the gym we go… rebuilding strength, one squat at a time, so we can safely wrestle your fur babies again 💪🐶
