Over the years, Taylor Swift has shared many words of wisdom that align with the principles we use in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT).

From reminding us that mistakes don’t define who we are to encouraging courage in the face of fear, her reflections echo key strategies used in therapy: reframing unhelpful thoughts, practicing self-compassion, and finding strength in uncertainty. It’s a good reminder that psychology and everyday wisdom often meet in the same place helping us build resilience, perspective, and balance.

If you or someone you love is experiencing difficulties with their mental health, the registered psychologists and psychotherapists at the Waterloo CBT Clinic are available to help.

Virtual and in person appointments are available.

Parent coaching is often a central aspect of treatment, giving parents the tools and skills to help them support their child without reinforcing unhelpful behaviours. Support for the child can also be helpful to give them the tools and skills to overcome underlying mental health concerns that may be contributing.
