A big shout out to Mayor Dave Jaworsky, of The City of Waterloo, for taking the time to visit Steri-Ontario! We love to share what Steri-Ontario is doing to create awareness of Infection Control through Medical Device Reprocessing. We also discussed the impact of single use plastics on the environment. Proper sterilization of reusable instruments prevents infection. Reusable instruments help to protect our environment. Mayor Jaworsky gets it! And so should every health care facility providing patient care. Protect your patients and help save the environment. It really is a basic solution to an enormous problem. Discuss with your health care provider. Do they use disposable instruments? Are reusable instruments sterilized properly? It's your health. It's your environment. It's your business.

Everybody has a story to tell. Seeing as infection control is once again the focus of society, share your experiences. Good and not so good! Have you, or someone you know, aquired an infection from a public service facility? Have you ever walked out of a medical facility and questioned a procedure or the sterility of instruments used during that procedure? Infection control is everybody's business. Please do not "out" any facilities, we are hoping to educate not shame! If you have an infection control concern regarding a medical clinic or public service facility and feel it needs to be reported you should contact your local Public Health Department for advice.
We look forward to hearing about your experiences and hope that through education and information we can create a safer environment.

Summer means warm sunny days, flip flops and pretty toes. The perfect pedicure shouldn't leave you with a notification to be tested for communnicable diseases. Pretty toes aren't the only thing some of us walk away with after a spa visit.

Once we are safely able to resume our favorite activities, ask your Spa / Nail Salon : How are you sterilizing your instruments between clients? If they aren't using an autoclave....walk away!
