✨ Let’s Talk About Tipping Your Massage Therapist ✨

This comes up often, so here’s my perspective:

If you’re coming in for your regular scheduled treatment, tipping is not expected or required. As a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), I follow a professional fee structure—just like physiotherapists and chiropractors. We’re a regulated health profession, which means our rates are guided by standards set for healthcare providers.

Think about it—do you tip your chiropractor or physiotherapist after a session? Likely not. So please remember: it isn’t necessary to tip your massage therapist either.

That said, here are my examples of when it may be appropriate to tip your massage therapist:

🌿 If they go over the scheduled treatment time (whether you arrived late or they simply gave extra time).
🌿 If they include extra techniques or add-ons at no additional cost.
🌿 If they accommodate you on a day off or outside of their usual hours.

In circumstances like these, I personally will tip my massage therapist, because I genuinely appreciate the extra effort they’ve put in to support my wellbeing.

And yes—some people just like to tip. That’s okay too. It’s a personal choice, not a requirement.

At the end of the day, what matters most is that we respect each other’s time, energy, and care. That’s the heart of the work. 💚

I’ll be stepping away to rest & rejuvenate during these windows of time:

🌳 July 1 – July 14

🌻 August 5 – August 18

This is a gentle reminder to book your appointments before or after these dates.

During this time, I’ll be fully unplugging and won’t be responding to messages or inquiries. I’ll be sure to get back to you when I return, refreshed and grounded.

Thank you for! May the season bring you peace, sunshine, and stillness.

Your massage doesn’t end when you leave the table—it’s just the beginning of your healing.

Here’s how to support your body after the session:

• Hydrate – help your body flush out toxins + support circulation.
 Try:
🍋 Water with lemon or cucumber
☕️ Herbal teas (like peppermint, chamomile, or nettle)
🧉 Coconut water for gentle electrolyte balance

• Rest – give your body space to integrate.
 Rest can look like:
😴 A nap, quiet time, or early bedtime
🌳 A slow walk in nature
📓 Journaling, reading, or simply doing less for the day

• Heat or Cold Therapy –
🔥 Heat for tightness, stiffness, or chronic tension
🧊 Cold for soreness, inflammation, or after deep tissue work

• Gentle Stretching of the areas you had massaged – support mobility + energy flow:

• Be kind to your energy – Your body is integrating more than just muscle work.

Massage isn’t just bodywork—it’s soul work. Treat your whole self with care.

✨Now accepting new clients!✨

I’ve been a massage therapist for 15 years, and it’s truly been an honor to support so many on their healing journey. I offer a light to a firm moderate amount of pressure, blending different techniques and certifications I’ve gathered over the years—each session is intuitively guided to meet your unique needs.

My approach is holistic—I take time to understand your life as a whole, because our stories, stresses, and joys all live in the body. The more I know, the better I can help you release, restore, and reconnect.

If you’ve been feeling called to take care of yourself in a deeper way, I’d love to hold space for you.

Let’s work together to bring more ease and balance into your world.

DM to book or ask questions. I can’t wait to meet you.

How Often Should You Get a Massage?

If you’re dealing with a specific issue—like tension, pain, or stress—I love seeing clients once a week for four weeks to create real change in your body and energy. This consistency helps break patterns of tightness, restore movement, and support deeper healing. At the end of the four-week period, we’ll reassess, and if needed, we may continue with weekly sessions for another two weeks before transitioning to a maintenance plan.

After that, it’s about what feels right for you! Some people love coming in every two weeks to stay on top of stress and tension before it builds up. Others find that once a month is the perfect rhythm to maintain balance and well-being.

The key is listening to your body. Regular massage can help with:
✨ Reducing chronic pain and stiffness
✨ Improving circulation and energy flow
✨ Easing stress and promoting deep relaxation
✨ Supporting emotional and energetic balance
✨ Increasing flexibility, range of motion, and mobility

Whether you’re here for healing, maintenance, or just a little “me time,” I’m here to support you.

✨ Reiki & The 7 Chakras ✨

Your body is more than just physical—it’s an energy system, and when your chakras (energy centers) are blocked, you may feel stuck, unbalanced, or even unwell. Reiki is a gentle yet powerful way to restore balance, clearing stagnant energy and realigning your chakras for greater harmony.

🔴 Root – Grounding & security
🟠 Sacral – Creativity & emotions
🟡 Solar Plexus – Confidence & power
🟢 Heart – Love & compassion
🔵 Throat – Communication & truth
🟣 Third Eye – Intuition & insight
⚪ Crown – Connection & higher self

Reiki helps bring each chakra back into flow, supporting your body, mind, and spirit. ✨ Ready to experience this energetic reset? Drop a 🌿 if you’re feeling called to balance your chakras!

✨ Calm Your Nervous System with Indie Head Massage ✨

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or mentally drained? That’s your nervous system in fight-or-flight mode—a primal response designed to protect you from danger. When stress kicks in, your body releases cortisol and adrenaline, increasing heart rate, muscle tension, and mental alertness. But in today’s world, this stress response is often on overdrive, leaving us feeling anxious, exhausted, and out of balance.

💆‍♀️ This is where Indie Head Massage comes in. By working through the head, neck, and shoulders, it helps to:

🌿 Switch off fight-or-flight by activating the parasympathetic nervous system (your “rest & digest” mode)

🧘‍♂️ Lower cortisol levels, reducing stress & anxiety

💨 Release muscle & scalp tension, promoting relaxation

🧠 Improve circulation to the brain, enhancing focus & clarity

As skilled hands ease away tension, your nervous system shifts from stress to serenity, allowing you to feel deeply relaxed, grounded, and recharged. 🌙✨

If your mind and body are craving a reset, Indie Head Massage might be just what you need.

🌿 Meet the hands behind the healing! 🌿

Hi, I’m Taylor Dirstein, a Registered Massage Therapist with 15 years of experience and the proud owner of Knots Registered Massage Therapy Inc. My journey began in Waterloo, Ontario, and in 2024, I brought my passion for wellness to the beautiful Owen Sound community.

From a young age, my love for health and wellness—along with encouragement from my grandparents—set me on this path. Today, I’m dedicated to helping people ease pain, improve mobility, and find peace in their day. Whether through Registered Massage Therapy, Indie Head Massage, Cupping, Reiki, Meditation, or Mindfulness, I’m here to support your healing journey.

When I’m not in the clinic, you’ll find me embracing everything this area has to offer—hiking, golfing, hitting the gym, gaming, baking, or enjoying time with family and friends. I love the trees, the water, and how close we are to the beach! You might also spot me supporting local businesses or unwinding at my family cottage.

I can’t wait to meet you and be part of your wellness journey! ✨

Sometimes your body needs a little more help than just the massage. 👐🏼

I utilize cupping where and if it’s necessary during your treatment. This helps release tension, increase circulation, and break up fascial adhesions—especially in areas that need extra time to loosen. I place the cups on these spots to gently lift and decompress the tissue, then remove them and work deeper into the area. This allows for a more effective, targeted massage with longer-lasting relief.

Have you tried cupping? Let me know in the comments!

Did you know? Massage isn’t just for your back and shoulders!

Your whole body holds tension, and relief can come from areas you might not expect. Here are some key places that can benefit from massage:

✨ Back, Neck & Shoulders – The classic tension zones! Perfect for relieving stress, stiffness, and postural imbalances.

✨ Arms & Hands – Ideal for those who work with their hands, type a lot, or carry tension in their forearms.

✨ Legs & Feet – Great for circulation, reducing muscle fatigue, and soothing sore feet from standing all day.

✨ Glutes & Hip Flexors – Often overlooked but essential for lower back health, mobility, and reducing hip pain.

✨ Diaphragm & Abdomen – Helps with deep breathing, digestion, and releasing emotional tension stored in the gut.

✨ Jaw, Ears & Face – Eases tension from clenching, teeth grinding, and stress headaches.

✨ Head & Scalp – Incredibly relaxing and great for reducing headaches and improving circulation.

Your body is all connected—releasing tension in one area can bring relief to another!

Where do you hold the most tension? Let me know in the comments!
