Aimee is a Child, Youth and Family Therapist and Registered Social Worker (RSW). Aimee graduated with honours with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Trent University and completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) locally at Wilfrid Laurier University. Aimee is also a Certified Play Therapist (CPT) with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy and has specialized training in Child-Focused Family Therapy, Theraplay® (parent-child attachment therapy), Sandtray, Expressive Arts and Puppetry.
Aimee has extensive experience serving children and youth who have experienced trauma with training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), and Trauma-Focused Integrative Play Therapy.
Aimee believes that families are the experts of their own experience, and that children and youth have innate wisdom about their own thoughts and feelings. Aimee’s goal is to create a supportive space for this wisdom to come forward, fostering healing and resilience that extends beyond the therapy space.
Aimee’s individual work with children and youth is complimented by evidence-based parent consultation; equipping caregivers with tools to better understand their child’s behaviour, strengthen family bonds, and co-create solutions to problems.
Outside of sessions you can find Aimee hiking in the forest, going to a yoga class or spending time with her family and mini goldendoodle puppy Clifford.
