📚✨ Celebrating Family Literacy Day in Saskatchewan! ✨📚
Family Literacy Day is a wonderful reminder of the powerful role families play in learning together. Held nationally on January 27, this long-standing Canadian initiative is led by ABC Life Literacy Canada and shines a spotlight on how everyday moments can support literacy and lifelong learning.
Here in Saskatchewan, we celebrate Family Literacy Week from January 25–31, 2026, with Family Literacy Day on January 27. All week long, schools, libraries, and communities come together to highlight the joy of reading, talking, listening, and learning as a family.
🌟 Family Literacy Day 2026 Theme: Make Mealtime Family Learning Time 🌟
This year’s theme encourages families to turn mealtimes into rich learning opportunities. Reading recipes, counting ingredients, planning meals, sharing cultural food traditions, and telling stories around the table are all simple yet meaningful ways to build language, vocabulary and literacy skills. Mealtime isn’t just about food, it’s about conversation, curiosity, and connection.
