Our first market of the season is almost here! We are so excited to be able to get back to Biggar after a 2 year hiatus (not purposeful - we kept ending up with personal events falling on the same weekend!)!

We hope we will see you there! Its an amazing event, and an amazing annual fundraiser for the Biggar Branch of the Wheatland Regional Library! (Fun fact - Jaedyn is also a community librarian for the Watrous Branch, so this event is always extra special for her!)

Just when you think it’s safe to put away your winter woollies… we get the May Long!

I was ready to throw hands last night when the rain turned to snow, we had to turn on the furnace (after needing AC earlier this week!), and when I realized that it wasn’t melting!!

No spring planting for me this weekend - guess it’s a stay in and knit kind of day!

You wouldn't think it, but green is REALLY hard to get just right when you have a specific shade in mind. Jaedyn has had one in mind for YEARS, and has created and experimented and scrapped and played some more... and always came away with a green that was okay, but not quite right.

And then, as often happens, we had a mishap in the dye pots with another colour. So to salvage it, we tossed in some green dye to cover it... and this was the result.

The good news is that even accidents can be recreated if you can remember what you did. We have learned over the years to write EVERYTHING down, so thankfully, this colour recipe was easy to recreate on purpose. And after all that - we just HAD to name it "It's Not Easy"... because this was literally the colour that eluded us for ages! Plus, it made us laugh... which is always a good enough reason!

It happens to be our Colour of the Month as well - which means it's 15% off until May 14! Yay!

If you've ever given a gift of a handmade item, you know the stress of trying to give the recipient all the info about how to care for their item... and then the stress of hoping for the best, and not finding out that the hat you made now can be used as a coaster, or the cabled sweater is now a pillow-front (looking at you GRAHAM... cough)!!

Tara designed these awesome little care tags that you can print off and fill out to tuck in with your gift! Cute, practical & perfect for the final touch. And a lot easier than verbally trying to give all the details!!

You can grab these on our website in our downloads section!

It’s time for some springtime knits!! And we are so ready for it! This winter has felt like 100 years long and we are just now seeing the final snow melt away!

If you are also eagerly anticipating spring and putting away your heavy scarves for something a bit smaller, you might like this cute 1 skein shawlette!

This is the Lisburn Shawl by , as part of her Petite Possiblities lineup! We love the horizontal details, and think it will make a fun knit! You can find it on Ravelry - and generously discounted as well!

Colours shown are Sidewalk, Harvest, Serenade & Fake It Teal You Make It.

Did you know that this Saturday is LYS day? It’s the best time to support your Local Yarn Shop or a dyer that you love!

We are lucky to be one of the shops participating in LYS day pattern giveaway, and appreciate her support of shops everywhere in the world!

This pattern, the Colossal Fluff Up, uses 2 contrasting skeins in fi*****ng weight. On Saturday & Sunday (April 24 & 25th), we will send you a personal code for the download when you purchase the yarn to make it.

What colours would you pick??

Don't forget that Lite Brite is 15% off until Thursday, April 13! It's such a fun spring speckle!!

Small projects are my jam right now... I'm not sure what it is, but I'm really feeling the need for some quick wins! Maybe because it's STILL winter here in SK... we just got another snow storm on Wednesday!

Anyway, has just released her newest 1 skein pattern - the Newcastle Cowl into the world, and I think it would be the perfect cast on for this seasonal transition! She's made versions for a single skein of fi*****ng and DK weights, as well as the cutest striped version to use with minis or some leftovers from other projects... we always love the thought and care she puts into her patterns, to help us pare down our stashes & showcase that special skein you've been saving!

The Newcastle Cowl is on Ravelry now, and is 50% off until Monday, April 13th. Make sure to check it out, give it some love, and let us know what yarn you have that would be a perfect pairing!

Remember back in the 80's & early 90's when one of the best toys was a Lite Brite?? I do... it was one of my favourites! Breaking into a new pack of black construction paper full of potential, armed with a container full of pointy little pegs... fun was had for hours!!

Our brand new speckle is our fibre version of that. A new yarn, full of potential and excitement! Will it be socks? A hat? A baby sweater?? It can be literally anything, and just like my classic Lite Brite creations, it is meant to be shown off, and oohed over when it's all done its transformation!

Lite Brite happens to be our Colour of the Month, which means you can grab yourself some for 15% off until Thursday, April 16! The discount will automatically be added to your cart. :)

Ever wonder what our yarn looks like before it gets to you? This is it - here they are in their natural state, before Tara and I get to add their layers of colour.

From ultra-soft and squishy, to warm & fuzzy, and then to flowy & drape-y... Each base takes dye in its own way, which means no two skeins are ever quite the same. It is so much fun in the dye studio to see how the dye takes to each base!

Each of our bases have been dyed, tested, knit, crocheted, and frogged to before we add it to our lineup - we want to know everything about it before we commit - so how it holds colour, it's texture, and how feels in your hands & in your project is so important!

We’re curious…
If you could only choose ONE base to knit with forever, which would it be? (mine is our Light Linen Merino, but don't tell the others!!)

(And if you don’t know yet—tell us what you like to make and we’ll help you pick) ;)

I was packaging up an order yesterday and while I was looking at these together, I was thinking how neat it was that these were all the same colour (Sangria), just dyed on a different base. Our formula / recipe stays the same. And yet, they all come out with their own individual look.

The fuzzy one in front is our Meringue Mohair. You can see how the silk takes the dye a bit more vibrantly, and the mohair halo is muted.

The Light Linen Merino base (middle) is a single ply and takes the dye beautifully. We love how the linen content resists the dye and stays white - giving the yarn a heathered look when worked into a project.

And in the back is our classic Light Sock, a blend of merino and nylon. It’s our standard dye look - tonal, saturated and vibrant!

We just thought it was fun to see the differences side by side!
