Ever wonder what our yarn looks like before it gets to you? This is it - here they are in their natural state, before Tara and I get to add their layers of colour.

From ultra-soft and squishy, to warm & fuzzy, and then to flowy & drape-y... Each base takes dye in its own way, which means no two skeins are ever quite the same. It is so much fun in the dye studio to see how the dye takes to each base!

Each of our bases have been dyed, tested, knit, crocheted, and frogged to before we add it to our lineup - we want to know everything about it before we commit - so how it holds colour, it's texture, and how feels in your hands & in your project is so important!

We’re curious…
If you could only choose ONE base to knit with forever, which would it be? (mine is our Light Linen Merino, but don't tell the others!!)

I was packaging up an order yesterday and while I was looking at these together, I was thinking how neat it was that these were all the same colour (Sangria), just dyed on a different base. Our formula / recipe stays the same. And yet, they all come out with their own individual look.

The fuzzy one in front is our Meringue Mohair. You can see how the silk takes the dye a bit more vibrantly, and the mohair halo is muted.

The Light Linen Merino base (middle) is a single ply and takes the dye beautifully. We love how the linen content resists the dye and stays white - giving the yarn a heathered look when worked into a project.

And in the back is our classic Light Sock, a blend of merino and nylon. It’s our standard dye look - tonal, saturated and vibrant!

We just thought it was fun to see the differences side by side!

Lychee is the most perfect coral-red ever, as far as we are concerned anyway! We love it so much that we’ve made it our Colour of the Month!

Sometimes, the best knits are the simple ones. The Sea Salt fingerless mitts (by ) are a basic design, knit in stockinette with rolled edges, and perfect for all kinds of yarn, from subtle tonals to chaotic speckles & variegations.

This pattern is best for the days when you just need a mindless knit to keep your fingers busy, and the days after that when you just need a simple accessory to keep your hands warm.

Hey crocheters! We just put up a few of the cutest crochet themed project bags in our shop! We know that most themed fabrics are knitting related so when I spied this fabric, I grabbed some up (and then was sad I didn’t get more!).

These ones are a medium size, made with cotton and squishy interfacing to make them sturdy and protective of your project inside!

Remember the gorgeous Brianna knit cowl designed by .twist.designs we showed in October?! Here it is again - but in it’s equally gorgeous crochet form!

The Satarah Bandana Cowl combines beautiful Moss Stitch (aka Linen Stitch) with an eye-catching Harvest Stitch fade band, using a solid for the main, and minis for the contrast! It uses sock weight yarn, so it’s perfect for every season - and perfect do all those stashed minis we know you have!!

This sweater is what my dreams are made of! Lace, cables, v-neck, DK weight... it checks ALL my boxes in what I search for in a sweater!
and.pine.designs created this stunning sweater using our Comfort Sport/DK base in Green Gables. Both Tara and I are trying to decide what colour we want to do ours in... I'm pretty settled on Lychee for me, but Tara is still unsure. Suggestions? What would you make yours with?

Just a friendly reminder that our Anne of Green Gables collection is leaving tomorrow, November 30!

This collection has been a much loved one since introducing it in 2018. We did shelve it for 2 years, and are re-shelving it again until 2027, so if you are wanting a little bit of Anne & her bosom friends into your own yarn collection, it’s your last 2 days!

SURPRISE!! Our Anne is Green Gables Collection is back for a limited time!!

We thought it was the perfect time of year to bring back Anne & her friends - especially because she loved October! 💕

All characters are available as full skeins, half skeins and mini skeins!

The collection is back until November 15, then it’s going away again until 2027!
