Grief can be compared to a journey along a winding road. Unpredictable, personal, and ever changing. No two people travel the same path, even if they are mourning the same loss. Each turn, hill, and stretch of fog reflects the ups and downs of emotion, the moments of deep pain, unexpected peace, or confusing numbness.
Unlike a straight road with a clear start and finish, the grief journey is not linear. There isn't a defined beginning where the pain starts, nor an end point where it neatly resolves. Instead, grief loops back, pauses, or speeds ahead without warning. You might feel like you are making progress one day, only to feel lost and overwhelmed the next. That doesn't mean you are failing - it simply means you are human.
Grief doesn't follow a map. It invites us to move forward at our own pace, to rest when needed, and to recognize that healing never means forgetting. It means learning to carry the love and the loss together, as you continue down the road - even if you can't yet see where it leads. ❤
