The death of a pet may be the first time a child will experience a significant death in their life and depending on their age, may grieve in similar ways to the death of a person.

Join us on March 26th from 4:30-5:30pm for My Pet Died, a program hosted by Meetu, our bereavement coordinator for child and youth programs.

No registration is needed. The program will be offered at the Humane Society of Greater Niagara, 160 Fourth Avenue, St Catharines from 4:30-5:30pm.

Children and teens ages 6 to 17 will have an opportunity to talk about the life of their animal friend as well as their feelings and experiences of loss.

In Niagara, approximately one in three adults drink at levels that place them at moderate to high risk, based on Canada’s Guidance on Alcohol and Health. Canada’s Guidance on Alcohol & Health shows 6 or fewer drinks/week helps avoid increasingly high risks for health issues. It’s OK if you’re not there yet. Remember, any reduction helps lower your risk. Every little bit counts. Here are some tips for starting. https://www.ccsa.ca/en/guidance-tools-resources/substance-use-and-addiction/alcohol/canadas-guidance-alcohol-and-health

The beginning of the year is a time to refresh and reset with a focus on making positive changes to your health and lifestyle. One change you might consider making is reducing your alcohol consumption. You may have heard: to reduce health risks from drinking alcohol, you should have no more than 6 drinks a week. It’s OK if you’re not there yet. It may take time to adjust. Any reduction helps lower your risk. Every little bit counts. https://www.ccsa.ca/en/guidance-tools-resources/substance-use-and-addiction/alcohol/canadas-guidance-alcohol-and-health
