Nov. 22 is National Housing Day—a time to recognize and support the work happening across Niagara to make sure everyone has a safe and stable place to live.

Niagara Region is taking action to increase housing options across the full range of needs through several key plans:

• Consolidated Housing Master Plan - a 25-year plan to finance and build more housing across Niagara. This includes doubling the number of community housing units by 2050. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3LKFMLg

• Attainable Housing Strategy - focuses on housing within reach for people with moderate incomes. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4j0rLV4

• Post-Secondary Student Housing Strategy - looks at the unique housing needs of students in Niagara, supporting more purpose-built student housing and stronger partnerships between schools, cities and developers.

Together, these plans take a coordinated approach to addressing Niagara’s housing needs and help more people find housing that’s right for them.

A little holiday magic with a big impact ✨

Shelly from Photography by Shelly has been such a gift to our community. She has spent time with us capturing the heart of who we are—our people, our stories, and the work we feel so privileged to do. Her photos have become a beautiful reflection of the compassion and connection that define Mainstream and Gateway.

This year, Shelly is offering Holiday Mini Sessions, and she’s chosen to turn them into something even more meaningful. For every session booked, she is generously donating $25 directly to Gateway Niagara and Mainstream.

It’s a simple way to get gorgeous family photos while also supporting the individuals and families we serve every day.

Margaret Beaupre, Executive Director of Mainstream and Gateway, has been named a finalist for the GNCC 2025 Women in Business Awards in the Excellence in the Not-for-Profit Sector category!

This honour reflects Margaret’s leadership and the collective efforts of our incredible staff, volunteers, and Boards who bring compassion and inclusion to life every day.

Together, we support more than 1,300 individuals and provide housing for over 400 people — work made possible by our dedicated teams and partners.

📦 We’re Moving!

We’re thrilled to share that Mainstream & Gateway is moving to our new home as of November 1, 2025 !

Our administrative team and several of our programs will be based at this new location — a space designed to bring people together and strengthen the support we offer in our community.

To mark this exciting new chapter, we’re hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 🎀
