🏀 Sportball at the Welland Community Centre in 2026! ⚽️✨

The goal is to help kids build the confidence and competence they need to stay active for life. Our programs are research-backed and rooted in physical literacy—teaching skills, coordination, teamwork, and focus through activities kids actually get excited about each week.

We offer something for every age and stage:

🏐 Parent & Tot (16 months–3 years)
A playful introduction to movement and sport alongside a parent or caregiver.

⚽️ Multi-Sport Junior (4–6 years)
Skill-building through high-energy games, teamwork, and a mix of sports.

🏀 Multi-Sport (7–11 years)
A more advanced, confidence-boosting program that encourages independence, focus, and athletic development.

🗓 Classes start in January and run Monday evenings and Saturday mornings.

CHIPPAWA PARK | We wanted to share an update about the playground equipment on Weller Avenue in Chippawa Park.

The existing structures have reached the end of their lifecycle, and based on safety and maintenance assessments, removal has been recommended. This work, which is part of the approved 2026 capital budget, is expected to take place this week.

✅ But here’s the good news:
A brand-new, modern playground was installed in 2022 at the corner of First Avenue and Laughlin Avenue, right within Chippawa Park. This updated space brings junior (18 months–5 years) play areas together in one spot, making it easier for families to enjoy the park safely and comfortably.

To support even safer access for families walking to the playground, a new pedestrian crossover is planned for installation on First Avenue in spring 2026. This will help ensure safe crossings for anyone heading to and from the park.

Thanks for your understanding as we continue to care for our parks and keep our play spaces safe, accessible, and welcoming for everyone.

OUTDOOR RINK VOLUNTEERS | Our outdoor rinks are possible because of dedicated community volunteers, and we’re looking for a few more helping hands this season.

If you enjoy being outdoors and want to make a positive impact in your neighbourhood, volunteering for rink maintenance is a simple and meaningful way to do it. The City provides all equipment, so all you need to bring is your time and willingness to pitch in.

Volunteers are needed at:

⛸️ River Road Park
