I support LGB2SLGBTQIA+ children. I support and love my child. I am a proud mother of a gay child.

I am sickened by the advocacy for and show of hate in my own country and community. My child's experience in school, in the community has included hate and isolation and at times ostracization solely because of who he is and the failure of others to educate their children to live and support human beings as and for who they are. I condemn discrimination and oppression in all its forms. All children deserve access to public services safely, equitably, and without discrimination based on sexuality or gender expression or identity. I worry about my adult child's safety EVERY day and these expressions of hate not only amplify my fear and anxiety but increase the safety risks and possibility of violence and harm significantly IN THAT CHILD'S OWN COMMUNITY. The very idea that other parents think they are "protecting" their children by promoting hate and intolerance of mine is incredibly sad and ignorant.
