Top three tips for eating more plants:
1) canned chickpeas marinated in canola oil and salt free spices roasted in the oven - use as salad topper; 2) sautée leftover salad greens in olive oil and use as topping for grilled salmon; 3) instead of a salad dressing, too your lettuce greens with cut up fruit - the fruit serves as the flavour factor for the salad and it’s amazing how you don’t even miss the dressing! 🌱

So this is a moment I want to bottle up for many many years and look back on with gratitude and joy. I stand here with the wife of founder of the , Mrs Crowley, who is 92 years young. Her husband, Mr Russell Crowley received a transplant in the mid 1960s and unfortunately passed away shortly thereafter, leaving a young family behind. Documents of the formation of the foundation were found by Mrs. Crowley’s daughter many years later, and today they reunited at this conference.
I also had the privilege of receiving the Circle of Excellence Award today for my volunteer work with - to find the grounding roots of this organization just solidifies why I love what I do. I am forever grateful.

Side by side comparison of two of my favourite affordable and nutritious spots .lamarca and in Madrid-although I try to remain objective, please take my synopsis with a grain of salt 😉 Roots Lamarche (first photo)only offers their bowls for lunch so you’re restricted on when you can enjoy them - the staff are very accommodating and I was able to choose how much or how little of the items I wanted so I chose extra chickpeas (of course) and paid a bit extra for it which was worth it. The salad was topped with this savoury granola of oats, nutritional yeast and turmeric, paprika, and cumin, exhibitor I loved. The dressing came on the side and the meal was light and nutritious and very low in fat and sodium. It tasted homemade and I would definitely eat there again. They have a delicious açai bowl (second photo) for an alternative afternoon snack, which they customize to your preferences as well. They sell the most delicious granola to go and serve a tasty cappuccino but use whole milk only. Honest Greens offered a ton of flavour by adding salt and sauces to their dishes however, they used a lot of fresh herbs, spices and flavour combinations and fresh vegetables - for example, they combined pomegranates and beets into the salad (picture shown third in the collection). The protein portion (salmon) was a bit smaller than I would have liked and the server assured me it was enough which was a bit disappointing. The skim milk cappuccino (final photo)at Honest Greens however is by far the best I’ve had in Madrid and probably ever. The staff seem to put a lot effort into the coffee here and it shows. Which meal would you choose and why?

Did you know that one in two people will develop cancer in their lifetime?

It’s a bleak statistic, yes. But you aren’t helpless against this stat. There ARE things you can do.

April is Cancer Awareness Month. I’d like to devote most of my posts this month to providing you with information on how to prevent or manage this illness, and if needed, navigate nutrition post-cancer treatment.

Cancer is complicated. But the good news is there is a common denominator that impacts prevention, treatment, and recovery. NUTRITION. Although one’s nutritional needs vary, diet is a big factor on how successful your efforts are towards prevention, treatment, and recovery. A dietitian can personalize your nutrition needs through each of these stages.

The good news is that eating certain foods and optimizing nutrition can help you with quality of life, energy, and overall health. Swipe slides to see how certain foods can help prevent certain types of cancer.

And of course, there are so many other key preventative factors. On top of the list is timely screening medical care and lifestyle behaviours. I’m happy to discuss these with you in further detail, DM me if you have any questions or concerns.

Remember, small changes can make a big difference!

So if you have questions about how you can improve your lifestyle, or are concerned your current nutrition isn’t optimal for you - I’d love to hear from you. This is what I love doing so reach out anytime for a FREE 10 minute DISCOVERY CALL.

Or book a consultation and let’s start optimizing your overall wellness.
