MORE grief!
Grief is not a storm to wait out or a road to walk through.
It’s not a wound that heals and scars over. It’s a rebirth, an emotional infancy. Suddenly, you are a child in your own life: unsure, disoriented, relearning how to eat, sleep, speak, even breathe.
You learn how to walk through a grocery store without breaking down. How to smile when asked how you’re doing. How to live in a world that spins on, while yours has stopped. Grief undoes you. It strips away your language, your balance, your sense of time.
Sleep comes in fits. Kindness must be spoon-fed. Tears arrive without reason. You cling to the familiar, like a child reaching in the dark. Simple tasks feel monumental. Getting dressed is relearning your own body. You study faces for cues because you’ve forgotten the rules.
You need gentleness, soft voices, silent company, lullabies of patience.
And like a child, your emotions live close to the surface. One moment brings laughter, the next, collapse. You cannot rush this. You are relearning the world with a broken heart, building a new sense of safety and meaning, one shaky step at a time.
Grief doesn’t ask you to move on. It asks you to begin again.
You grow slowly, not in spite of loss, but because of it. A new self, shaped by sorrow, learning to live again in a world forever changed by love, loss, and resilience.
