With mental health disorders, we often say things like "she is anorexic" or "he is schizophrenic." By simply shifting our use of language and starting to say "she has anorexia" or "he has schizophrenia" we help people see that individuals are more than the disorders they suffer from.

The way we talk about eating disorders is very strange. We tend to say that someone ‘is anorexic’ rather than that they ‘have anorexia’.

You may find that other topics of conversation are more uplifting and can foster deeper connections with one another.

In our current diet- and weight-focused society, the holidays can be accompanied by feelings of stress, anxiety, guilt, and shame surrounding food.
