Today’s Dungeons & Dragons Social Skills Group was packed with magic and adventure! 🎲✨

Our first group ventured deep into a goblin cave, came face-to-face with the goblin boss, and worked together to upgrade their weapons. Along the way, they spent time with Pebbles the magic cat—and even encountered a very big panther 🐆

Our second group unleashed powerful magic, carefully made their way up the mountain with Pebbles, and found themselves face-to-face with a big scary troll 🧌… who was fast asleep! Together, they decided what to do next.

It was a fantastic day of teamwork, imagination, and creative problem-solving.

We’re excited to introduce our upcoming Mindful Parenting Group, created especially for caregivers supporting children with anxiety! This group will run separately, but concurrently, with our Cool Kids Anxiety Group, starting March 29th, allowing children and parents to build skills and confidence in parallel. While your child is learning tools to manage anxiety, you’ll have your own dedicated space to reflect, connect, and grow.

Together, we’ll explore practical, evidence-based strategies to help you stay grounded during big emotions, respond thoughtfully rather than react, and cultivate a deeper sense of safety, resilience, and connection at home.

In this group, you’ll learn:
✨ To have a deeper understanding of how anxiety shows up in you and your child, and how to break reactive patterns
✨Tools to help you respond calmly and confidently when your child is experiencing anxiety
✨ Practical strategies to co-regulate during big emotions and reduce escalation at home
✨ Clear, reassuring communication skills that help your child feel safe and understood
✨ Explore anxiety accommodations and ways you can support your anxious child
✨ Simple daily practices to lower overall family stress and build emotional resilience over time

🗓 Sundays | 3:15 - 4:15 PM

📍 In-Person

📆 March 29 - June 14, 2026 (excluding April 5th)

We’re excited to announce that our Cool Kids Anxiety Group is back, starting March 29th, for children ages 7–12! This 10-week, evidence-based program is skills-focused, collaborative, and engaging — designed to help children better understand anxiety, build coping tools, and grow their confidence in a supportive and fun environment.

Through games, activities, and group discussions, your child will learn to:
✨ Understand what anxiety is and why it shows up
✨ Recognize anxious thoughts and body signals
✨ Communicate their worries
✨ Develop realistic, helpful thinking strategies
✨ Gradually face fears with supported exposure, at a manageable pace
✨ Build coping skills, confidence, and independence

The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety — it’s to help your child feel capable and in control even when anxiety shows up 💪

We thoughtfully tailor the program to meet each child’s unique strengths and needs. We’ve supported children with reading challenges, extreme shyness, ADHD, autism, and a wide range of learning styles. Neurodivergent children are absolutely welcome here, and we provide accommodations to ensure every child can fully participate and benefit from the program.

Spots are limited — reach out to learn more or register!

Here is an inspiring example of how we can let go of judgement and show up for ourselves and do things at our own pace. Practicing mindful presence can lead to this very joyful and self compassionate life. Practicing letting go of self criticism and perfectionism allows us to reach full potential!

How do we do this? Here are some ways to start:
➡️ Observe the present moment without trying to change anything
➡️ Practice being curious about thoughts while letting go of judgement
➡️ Place a hand to your heart and take a few deep breaths: offering loving touch to ourselves can help soften and open us up for self compassion
➡️ Practice self talk that is kind and honors your boundaries

This week, we’re highlighting the importance of bringing awareness to eating disorders, and how they don't all look the same or impact just one type of person or population. Eating disorders can affect people in many different ways, such as physically, mentally, and emotionally.

At our clinic, we believe every child deserves to grow up in a world that values body respect, inclusion, and compassion — not harmful standards that exclude or shame. Let’s challenge the myth that thinness equals health and support a more caring, realistic understanding of well-being for all bodies.

As a psychologist working from a neuroaffirmative and strength based lens, I’ll start by saying that has done an amazing job doing just so in their new book “ADHD is Awesome!”
This is written by a couple (Penn - who has ADHD - and Kim - who don’t have ADHD) who provide their own insights, experiences, and reflections of living with/ with someone with ADHD. They acknowledge the challenges while also highlighting some amazing strengths of having ADHD.

This book is also a great read for those of us without ADHD as it allows for validation while also helping us reflect on ways we can accommodate and support our loved ones with ADHD.

At the same time, as with any resource, while this book is a great and engaging read that provides validation and strength based perspective, it is also written based on personal experiences (which is really an important step for all of us to better understand ADHD). To better understand ADHD from a research standpoint I also recommend “ADHD 2.0” as a great educational resource. 📕 But don’t forget to read the as a great reminder of all the ways we can think about ADHD and incorporate tools in our everyday lives.

Will I be leaving a copy of this book in our clinic waiting room? Absolutely!
