Did you know... Aspen Chiropractic Health Centre added Radial Shockwave Therapy to our assortment of treatment options in February 2012. That decision has proven to be one of the best we have ever made as we have seen incredible results for many patients over the years!

Shockwave Therapy is used to treat an assortment of conditions commonly referred to as enthesopathies: conditions affecting the areas where muscle tendons or ligaments attach to bones.
Examples of enthesopathies which have been shown to respond well to Shockwave Therapy include: tennis elbow, golfers’ elbow, rotator cuff tendinitis, calcific tendinopathy, patellar
tendinitis, heel spurs, shins splints, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, bursitis, muscle spasm, muscle
strain and trigger points.

Shockwave Therapy is so effective because: (1) It increases the blood flow to the injured area, which
brings more nutrients into the injured area to improve the healing response, (2) It stimulates the energy
production factories (mitochondria) within the cell structure to produce more ATP energy. This, in turn, translates into an increased healing response. (3) It has been shown to re-arrange the collagen fibers of injured tissue back into the correct alignment, (4) The shockwaves can sometimes stimulate the re-
absorption of calcium deposits, which often build up at an injury site or pain site (i.e. heel spurs), and (5) Shockwave Therapy also provides an immediate analgesic effect (pain reduction). It is important to realize that no anesthetic is required for this treatment and there are no known side effects.
