This weekend, I’m spending some time behind the scenes streamlining a few key areas of the clinic — all with the goal of making your experience even smoother and more supportive.

To everyone who’s chosen to seek care with me so far: thank you. Your stories, resilience, and trust continue to inspire me, and I truly hope I’ve been able to play a positive role in your wellness journey.

As many of you know, I currently operate all aspects of Westlock Chiropractic — from patient care to administration — which means I’m still ironing out some of the wrinkles as things evolve.

A lot of people are surprised to learn that their headaches aren’t just in their head. 

  

In fact, many chronic headaches have a musculoskeletal origin — meaning they’re often caused by:

🤕 Low back pain… not always scary, but always annoying.  
    
Let’s be real — it’s exhausting to be in pain, especially when life doesn’t exactly stop to let you rest. Kids need lifting, laundry needs hauling, groceries need carrying… and somewhere in the middle, your back starts talking back. 😩    
    
Here’s the good news: not all back pain is serious.    
    
There’s a type called benign low back pain — and it’s actually the most common kind.    
“Benign” simply means it’s not caused by anything scary or dangerous. Most often, it’s mechanical in nature, meaning it’s related to how your muscles, joints, and soft tissues are working (or overworking).    
    
✨ It could be from:    
• Tissue fatigue (yep, muscles get tired too)    
• Poor movement mechanics (think awkward lifting or sitting)    
• Local inflammation (especially after repetitive stress or tension)    
    
👉Let’s talk about one simple exercise that can actually help :  
    
🐶 Meet the Bird-Dog.    
No feathers. No barking. Just one of the most underrated core stability exercises out there.    
    
If you’ve tried it and hated it, there’s a good chance you’ve been doing it wrong.    
    
✅ What you’re supposed to feel:    
• A gentle activation in your deep core (like your abs hugging in)    
• Glute engagement in the leg you’re lifting    
• Minimal — or zero — strain in your low back or neck    
    
❌ What it’s not about:    
• Kicking your leg high    
• Reaching as far as humanly possible    
• Arching or twisting    
    
It’s about control, alignment, and stability. Not speed or range.    
And when done well, it teaches your spine and supporting muscles how to work together — so you move better, stabilize better, and hurt less.    
    
Because let’s be honest… who wants to live in survival mode when you can feel strong and steady instead?

I love 💜 working on feet and calves. There’s something so satisfying about releasing tension in those tired muscles… and most people have no idea just how much they’re holding in there until we start working on it.
