Welcome to Sel et Sucre Advanced Aesthetics! I’m Julie-Anne, a clinical aesthetician with over two decades of experience in the skincare industry and the proud owner of this advanced aesthetics studio, located within the Reset Wellness Collective on Westville Road, Pictou County.

My personal journey with acne, sensitivity, and sun damage inspired my passion for skincare and led me to pursue comprehensive training. I earned my first diploma from the Alberta Academy of Aesthetics in 1999 and later completed the internationally recognized CIDESCO program and my clinical aesthetician diploma at The Esthetic Institute in 2018.

Over the years, I’ve gained invaluable experience working in salons, luxury resorts, med-spas, and as an educator, helping clients address common skin concerns. These experiences fueled my desire to specialize in advanced treatments that truly make a difference in my clients’ skin health and confidence.

At Sel et Sucre, I offer a range of treatments, including customized facials, enzyme and chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and thermocoagulation. I offer high end retail options for home use in conjunction with my treatments to address reactive, sensitive, and aging skin as well as treating a number of skin imperfections, often caused by excessive sun damage. I enjoy taking my time to get to know my clients health history, individual needs, and developing a tailored skin care plan to address their concerns. Knowing how professional treatments using effective products can make an incredible impact on someone who has had to deal with challenging skin issues, keeps me motivated to continue educating my clients on the importance of taking care of their skin. The ultimate reward is witnessing the transformation from low self esteem to loving their skin as it progressively reaches a much healthier state.

Yes!

While both therapies use acupuncture needles, the training, needling techniques, and philosophy are different.

Traditional Acupuncture is a modality of Chinese Medicine that has been used for thousands of years. It uses a systemic approach where precise acupoints along meridians are needled to rebalance physiological functions of the body. This can help alleviate internal ailments of digestion, hormonal imbalances, pain, stress, mental health, headaches, insomnia, and fatigue.

Dry needling is a treatment that is derived from acupuncture. This therapy involves the insertion of acupuncture needles into trigger points of muscles to relieve pain or enhance recovery. This is typically performed by physiotherapists, chiropractors or doctors.

Both therapies can be beneficial, however it is important to know which type of treatment to expect as they will offer a different experience!
